I suggest to try it if you want too, if you are annoying the other racers with your lag you can bet they'll let you know about it. ;)

Oh yes they will. Been at the receiving end even though I quit the race after two laps. I started with a decent 4 bar and mid race it dropped to a red one bar.
 
I would like to try the Europe server.
Seems more of the people on this site I most relate to are European, and, I work construction, so, I get home early in the afternoon, when all the school children should be doing homework... yet that time would put me after bedtime for those children in Europe... and put me racing with adults... even if they are a few pints in at that point it's all good, 'cause I usually am too. :).
 
As someone who falls outside the defined regional bracket, but because of geographical convenience, gets lodged in with all the Europeans who proceed to hand me my own behind, I'd actually like to try out the US server just for kicks. I'd probably have to adjust my sleep cycle though. (And stealthily kick everyone else off of the network beforehand.)

Im not against it to a limit.

If your connection with the server is bad because of the distance and you might damage the experience of others playing outside of your region then it should not be done.

No one ever told me that I lagged so far, so it should be good. The connection bars for me are weird. It's 3-4 bars in Asia, and 2-3 bars on other regions. But I don't see any lag at all and that seems to be the case to other drivers seeing me

Racing with Sofia Speed I saw her connection drop to as low as 1 bar during the race but she has zero lag at all. Not saying to not trust the connection bars, but it doesn't always tell the whole story
 
I’ve never really thought about this, but I’ll probably try it now, just race on the European server in a laid back way with less regard for DR and trying out different cars. I raced with Europeans mostly in GT6 so most of my PSN friends are from there, but I generally enjoy the American style of racing more. Europeans are generally known for subscribing to the whole “responsibility of the car behind to pass cleanly” garbage, and aren’t the best at situational awareness, whereas the American servers have more people who understand how side by side racing works. Of course Europeans won’t have a temper tantrum if you lightly accidentally touch them though either like Americans do.

I always get like 3 bars or sometimes even less on European Servers. Sucks to be in the middle east but i still think GT Europe Servers are much better than servers in most other games like Call of Duty, PUBG, Overwatch...etc. You can't avoid the lag in those games. I don't think racing on American or Asian servers is going to be better at all.

The best servers i ever played on were Rocket League is the Middle Eastern servers are actually located in Dubai and thus i get around 16-24 Ping. That's amazing IMO.

I must agree, having come from GT6's universal server system and due to my unpredictable job hours, playing at all hours of the 24/7 spectrum, that there are considerable differences in acceptable side by side behavior. Yes, USA players can be a bit touchy if you bump mid-corner, but most of that was about whether you conceded the position if the contact enabled the pass or not...

I think the primary cultural differences I found online in GT6 were in willingness to admit fault and return a gained position. With the Japanese at one end of the spectrum, and Latin countries and some Central Europeans at the other end..!

Personally, I blame PD for not publishing a DETAILED and comprehensive race rules document. Mind you, I suppose some of us might wake up to just how poorly Sport Mode stewards the games compared to real racing and be less tolerant of this mess that relying on a computer penalty system makes. But a standardized set of rules, a detailed description of when a player should concede a position back to someone they pushed out of, published by the game developers themselves (not a conflicting set of different rules for a plethora of race Leagues and clubs) would at least give us a standardized set we can cite during differences of opinion.

A couple of race etiquette videos that the game completely fails to enforce in any way whatsoever is hardly the thing the game needs.
 
Maybe most of the regional behavior comes from the types of racing people are exposed to. In the US whether you watch or not NASCAR has the most exposure. I think most from the US get the idea from NASCAR that rubbing is racing or even just flat out giving the guy in front of you "the chrome horn". Asia and especially Europe seems the majority is road racing, especially so with Europe. Of course that just the observation I make from me living in the US. Seems like Britons have at least 20 road courses alone just in England. As far as different temperaments from players in different countries I dont think anyone can deny that Senna believed it was his right to not only win but use almost any tactics needed to get that win. Although Barrichello and Massa were both from Brazil I would consider more gentleman racers, especially Barrichello.

Dont recognize you by Gt Planet name but I am guessing it happened on 1st lap in first couple of turns where there were cars in front of me and I got rear ended and knocked off track. Nothing boils my blood more than people who forget to brake. If its early in the race and cars are bumper to bumper its just a good idea to leave a little space between the cars in front so someone doesnt knock the person in front off track. One day that happened to me like 6 races in a row. It was a great race at Tsukuba in a one make race, I had good qualifying times but kept getting pounded in the rear with 2 or 3 cars in front of me first couple of turns.
