After watching all the GTtv videos, I am so thrilled with the culture of racing and driving, watching the nurburgring series, my hair was standing up. seeing so many drivers and enthusiast I am now a racing junkie...I notice cars on the street and have even seen a lot of the cars that I own in game,...it makes me smile.

My ex girlfriend works for Mercedes Benz and i remember seeing the SLS AMG, now I have to go sit in it....maybe she wont be my ex for long..lol

GT5 has made me an apprentice enthusiast .....research, GT5 and untimatly trying to drive one or two of these cars, and I will feel like Kaz.

I know it sounds a bit silly....but Im hooked. Thank you PD!

So are there more video now? I haven't checked in a while and so far I've only downloaded the Goodwood vids...haven't really watched it yet though...

but then I haven't done much else since GT5 arrived....hmm...

Gran Turismo made me fall in love with cars. When I was very young my family got a PS1 and GT2. I still remember being sat on the floor racing my dad on splitscreen races. Then I got GT4 and there was something about it. It made flinging a normally rubbish Nissan Cube to become utterly brilliant to fling around a (preferably flat, that thing wasn't fast) race track. From then on my love of cars was more than just caring about the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Lamborghini Gallardo, all those million-dollar hypercars. To me, every true car lover has a strange love for a peculiar car that many others may hate. Mine is the Mark 1 Ford Cortina. Not even the lotus version, just the boggo spec. Maybe it's those headlights...

It's weird that a non-enthusiast would play GT or watch car related videos. I find most people who aren't into cars don't understand why I would find stuff like that entertaining, and would never bother with it.

For instance, when I want my GF to go home, I'll put on some racing event that I have recorded like WRC or F1...then she gets the hint. LOL.

But hey, the more the merrier!

well to be honest I can see where he's coming from. I liked cars but never knew how to tell the difference then GT 3 came along and I loved cars and began to find the differences in chassis and I'm still learning things still. Especially about racing.I think that GT being able to do that is something special that not many games can do

OP now all you have to do is get active in motorsports its easy. Get a car if you don't have one already. Your car doesnt have to be highly modded, it just needs to pass tech inspections ( no oil leaks, no lose wheel hubs etc )

stop by this site for events in your area

I'd also recommend going to car conventions, car shows, import shows, etc. It'll let you see a lot more exotic/rare cars with your own eyes, and you'll begin to appreciate more cars.

You get more of a taste of the culture... you'll meet other enthusiasts, maybe buy some great merch, learn more about cars and racing, and become more involved with the sport...

For example, I often go to Importfest... pretty sure there are tons of events and conventions in your area, you're fortunate to be in New York...

My dream car is the Audi TT, I will own before my days are done...I've read tons about it, mostly from actual owners. they all love it, but its very pricey on upkeep. so maybe not my first car, but eventually

I will definitely check it out, I don't own a car but I will soon..maybe not the car I want but something nice, and GT will definitely impact my decision

Funny, My brother Runs a convention center in PA. he always invites me to the car shows, free tickets and all.....I've never been, but I won't miss the next one....if anyone wants to go...Free tickets woot

I would take you up on that free ticket lol but sadly I wouldn't be able to. Different coast

Speaking to him now, He said the next car show is in January. you still have time...lol

seriously if anyone would like to go...let me know.

GT3 made me fall in love with cars. I was only 9/10 at the time so had no interest in cars, but once i got my PS2 my dad bought me GT3 and i was so pissed off cause i hated racing games. Played it all the time however, got addicted to car manufacturers and would always look at EVERY car that drove past or i walked past trying to name them :). The original tracks on GT5 brought back sooooo many memories of GT3, i hadnt played a GT game since GT3, missed GT4 as i had no PS2 then.

This is what GT1 and 2 did to me all those years ago, it's a great feeling to suddenly find out you're passionate about something.

Google is your friend.. type whatever you want to know and the world will open up before your eyes. When you decide on a car... there are forums for every make and model out there. You will not be alone. I'm personally on close to 30 forums lol. Its a community in its own.

Anyone know where I can find more info? Like all aspects of cars and racing. I want to soak in so much now.

I know this sounds silly but Wikipedia is a good start. Lots of stats, detail and history about any car you want to learn more about.

SpeedTV is a decent station to watch, or check out their site for vids:
http://www.speedtv.com/

Or Top Gear, my favourite, is entertaining and usually educational.... http://www.youtube.com/user/TopGear

Look up beginners guides to racing, Google racing books for beginners to learn the theory of racing, or Google racing theory...
http://blogs.motortrend.com/top-four-tips-for-driving-like-a-pro-1555.html
http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html

GT Driving guide (tons of useful info):
http://www.essell.org/gt/drivingguide.php

Racing schools near your area are also a good start to get some hands-on experience and learn the basics.

get a car, any car and take it out on a track. it is simply the best fun you can have with your clothes on!!!

I've been running my cars on the local tracks for about 10 years now ... you think you're hooked on a game, pfft. try it for real!!

now I just wish we can get Mosport International into GT5 so I can practice in the off-season!

Im the same. Ive always loved cars, partly through Gran Turismo. I suppose I never really understood how they worked and performed untill 1 year ago.
Im more of a race spec guy though. Ive never seen the point in spending alot of money on a car to drive on the road in witch youll never use to its full potential. I see road cars as more practical devices.
I really love the history of the Le Mans, and how the cars have progressed through the years. Im not really into Formula 1 - just semms to be that the team who pours in the most money wins.
My favourite car ever would be the Mazda 787b. To get that much power out of a 2.6 is just phenomenal. Of course, rotary engines are famous for low torque, high friction peices of junk, but I love them. I love the simple technology they use, and the impressive power to weight ratio they produce. Its just a shame that they never really catched on.
That car was competing against 5 or 6 litre displacement opponents, and still won. I think that its legendary, and I hate the fact that it was banned at the LeMans. Imagine if that technology was still being properly invested. Who knows what LMP1 cars would be like today.

Yeah seriously, this. It seems to get a bit of hate around certain car forums, probably because it's popular... you know how it goes, but it's genuinely good fun. You'll learn about cars (not so much about racing) but it's not like insanely technical deep-end stuff, just lighthearted, interesting entertainment and loads of beautiful cars to drool over.

Plus another vote for Wikipedia. Seems obvious but there's a reason for that, it's stuffed with information. I had a great time the other night reading about the Ford GT40 Mk IV and it's 24h Le Mans race back in 1967.

Edit: Oh and for the record, the Top Gear magazine is awesome too. I dunno which countries it's for sale in, but if it's available, get it.

Are there any good websites that sends or have videos of racing? Checked out that speed.tv site, but non of their videos works from my location.

Cars are awesome. Racing is awesome. Now, you're awesome for recognizing their awesomely awesome awesomeness.

👍
