I guess this is a rant thread then, but I think I am not the only one thinking this way?

Racing on public lobby, the last thing people seem to care about is tire restriction, meaning no matter it is a 500ps touring car races, 300ps domestic car races, or even in 150ps hot hatches, 9/10 times you get racing softs as the norm.

Realism issue aside (the slicks having too much grip and when does you see stock street cars with slicks on?), my main gripe is how it makes every drive super boring, the grip has masked most handling imperfections and unless you have 400ps +, you can pretty much mesh the throttle out of hairpins and get away with it. braking stablity and body control is improved by a huge amount as well. The end result is an online experience on the arcade side and if you have a fast car, it's just a cruise to the finish without the real danger of making a mistake.

Though I understand many who races online are on a pad and need something more controllable, but very often there are people on wheel and they are actually pretty decent drivers (with a very grippy car at least), so why aren't there more servers with realistic tire choices?

Yeah i prefer to use sports soft on most cars, so i end up generally making my own room with restrictions, takes about 10-15 but i usually get 5-12 people.

The racing soft epidemic is self perpetuating though, as soon as one person uses them, everyone else needs to as well to remain competetive. Quite a shame really considering I feel the best races are sub-400HP, sports soft/medium and a weight restriction to keep out the lotuses :P

I know what you're talking about. I leave the room if I see racing tyres on road cars it's just to boring all you have to do is turn in a corner and slam the throttle going out. :yuck:

No skills needed here...

Yes, exactly, it's like a plague.

Also, some people will just throw on Soft Racing racing tyres as standard on all cars for all situations, they then tell their friends ''....this car handles great..'', when in some situations, it's not the car but the tyres.

Alot of the rooms I've been in have the Racing Soft tyres and standard, but luckiliy some of my friends are the same as me, Sports tyres for Road cars and Racing tyres for racing cars.

I agree 100%. I always set tire restrictions, without it all the cars feel the somewhat the same which is pretty boring if you ask me.
