how many people do you think didn't pay for Spa. I use to open a room with that track and it was full in mins., now hardly anyone comes in. What's that all about? I HAVE A FRIEND THAT IS A PROGRAMER and he said if you give a program something and then update it you should not take what was given the first time. Is this all about money?:yuck:

Spar... that's a shopping chain around here. There's no racetrack called 'Spar' unless you are thinking about Spa. If you are thinking about Spa then there's already multiple threads.

Anyone who didn't pay for the DLC should not be allowed to use it, or mooch off the rest of us who have.

Its not all about money. It was a free trial for everybody who didn't buy it and now its only available if you buy it. It doesn't matter what your friend says, PD owns the product and they can choose to do as they please.

Very very true!

To correct the title, just edit your first post, the title is in the box above the big text box.

Basically, only people who bought it can drive on it. No one else. Well, I bought it after trying it out, so I don't see why no one else shouldn't.

I love racing at Spar.

I have a fully tuned beast for my trips there, look at the photomode detail.

Agreed, if anything, those that bought it are kind of in a bad spot now, because whenever I'm online, most of the people in the room can't race at Spa, so it basically is rendered useless online..

You aren't in a bad spot though, they are. You bought the track and they didn't. PD should make it that online rooms are separated for DLC buyers and non-DLC buyers.

Sidenote: I'll join your room. Just be prepared to beat me since I don't think I'm that good.:dopey:

They must not trust you with their shopping carts if you have to pay a coin to use them.

Lot's of people didn't buy the dlc when it was first released. Why would they when they could race on Spa for free? Now if they want to they got to pay like the rest of us did lol. It's no surprise to see lack of Spa rooms online now. I looked yesterday and today and I found exactly one lol.

Exactly my point.

Do you press triangle to refresh it? You can find many more rooms by doing this but I assume you already did this? I always find 20+ rooms at Spa.

Oh and I have bought all the DLC's so far. I don't think people should be allowed to play on Spa if they haven't bought the DLC. You don't pay, tough you don't play. PD shouldn't have made it available to everyone in the first place.

I don't really understand this logic. I bought Spa, but now I can pretty much only race it by myself since a relatively small number of people can race on it with me. This doesn't encourage me to buy the next DLC track since I like racing with other people online and a good portion of people won't be able to race on it. On the other hand I would gladly pay $10 per track if I knew more than ~20% of people online could race it with me.

This man has a point that quite frankly a lot of you are missing.

I can see where you're going with the point, but there's the other side of the argument. If PD continued to make Spa accessible to everyone for free online as long as the host bought the DLC, how would it encourage players to buy DLC? Same with private lounges. The only incentive to buy the track DLC would be for offline purposes or for hosting purposes.

In fact, a number of people who bought the DLC would refrain from purchasing future track DLCs as they can race online for free as long as they can find a host who has the DLC.

Spa is a wonderful track, I think that perhaps they could have let the trial run a little longer to entice more people. I'm looking forward to racing on Spa - I think it will become more popular over the next month or so.

For what it's worth, people should pay. If there is value, then you need to pay for it.

Allow me to add a little bit more. In the beginning of any product cycle, it's not going to have a massive user base right away. It takes time to build up the fan base. It's guaranteed that the user base of the Spa track is only going to increase, so don't fret, only more and more rooms will appear online, not less. Unless these users decide to stop playing Spa online or GT5 altogether, but that's a different issue.

With free access for the first 2 months, besides the reasons "I want to support PD's decision for future DLC" or "I want Spa for offline practice/arcade mode" or "I want to be a Spa host and play with track settings", I don't really see why anyone would pay $7 or whatever amount to buy the track when you can just go online and find plenty of rooms to race in for free.

That's why the current user base is so small, because people could race without paying in the beginning. Why pay up when you can get the same utility (race on Spa) for free? Just wait for a while, and if your GT friends still don't get the Spa DLC, I guess Spa just isn't important enough to them to spend money on.

^ your right. But, i ain't buying DLC for cars. I've got like 700 of em. Put more tracks in DLC and i'd probably do it. I did like SPA tho. RIP SPA.

This is all valid and true, as are my opinions. It's six of one, half dozen of the other. Personally I would gladly pay for the ability to race on Spa whenever I wanted even if I could race it online for free. But that's just my opinion. Just because you can race on it for free in a public room doesn't mean it would be in the cars you wanted to race or with clean racers. But at least people would get to sample it which would encourage some people to buy it.

Their new model is probably the best plan from a financial point of view. Spa is now available to everyone in the new seasonal so they get to sample the track and see how great it is. But it only let's them race it in that one scenario so if they want longer races or different cars they have to buy it. 👍
