Ooooh. that Chicayne is so nice, I have a carmag with an article about it.

The clean look is awesome on it. I'd prefer a more flashy color though.

That first one...

thats like saying that Bigfoot's tires are too big... they are meant to be low!!! Lower center of gravity= better handling!!!

Too big wheels + inability to turn laterally inside wheel arches = worse handling...

Cars this low = pimpmobile.

Handling isn't defined by height, it's defined by stiffness. While i'll agree with you a Porsche 911 GT2 will handle better than say, a Land Rover Defender 90, ride height is only subjective.

These are showcars, don't forget. They're as useless as the stupid Eclipses and Civics with big bodykits and huge wings. Except these look a tad better.

I dare you walk up to Troy himself and say that.... his motto is 'If it just looks good, it just isn't good enough.' All his cars are function first looks second. Thats why he is becoming so popular, you can drive his cars just like any other car. But his look and perform better.

At least know a little about who made the car before you rip it like that...

Ok it is ovious some of you missed the point of this post so I will attempt to clarify...

Saying these cars are too low is like saying that Bigfoot's tires are too big. Bigfoot just wouldn't be Bigfoot without huge tires.

Lower center of gravity = better handling. This is always true assuming that all else about the car is equal, why do you think race cars are built so low and wide??

Oh and I looked it up and none of the cars I posted have lower ground clearance then the 911 Turbo, Corvette Z06 or the SVT Cobra R....

Better than what? The original car? I doubt that first car you posted could do a three-point turn as well after the modification as it could before it. Or drive over speedbumps. Better than a car the same price then? I honestly doubt it.

Lowering a car does not always improve the performance of the same car. Improperly done and you end up with all sorts of camber/castor/toe changes to the wheels, screwing up both striaght-line and cornering stability. And with those ridiculous oversize wheels on that first car, coupled with the fact that 40% of them are up in the wheelarches, he won't be turning anywhere.

Who on Earth is "Troy", and why does his "motto" make him a) right; b) any good; c) a scary man I wouldn't want to walk up to?

He actually cuts the frame in so it has full turning abilities. These cars are more than just looks. Their made to be driven hard is what Troy says.

Lets all forget the fact that the Chicayne has airbags and that if he really wanted to do a three point turn or go over speedbumps all he has to do is lift the car a little bit.

Driven hard? With a cut frame? You must be kidding! Wake up, they are show cars, for god's sake. No one's going to abuse those things, let alone drive a hundred miles in them. You know, trailer *****es, carpet queens...

They might look good, they might have 10000000 hours of craftsmanship into them, they might cost over 300000$ to build, but they're still show cars, just like say, Boyd Coddington's cars, or Chip Foose's.

i dont know about you guys but if you ever saw chip foose's works of art they are incredible

true that.... the twin mill, the deora II, the 0032, the speed bird, Titus' 56 Chevy... all cool cars...

just because the car has a cut frame does not mean the frame is weaker... the chicayne has a fully custom frame/roll cage similar to those of muscle era NASCAR cars. And Troy Trepanier the owner of Rad Rides by Troy uses the Chicayne as his summer daily driver and has racked up nearly 50k miles on it so far... so again I suggest knowing a little about the builder and owner of a car before you start ripping it....

He might have driven it all summer, but it never was this low while he was doing it, hence bringing me back to my first point in this thread.

Well I know george poteet drive the hell out of his cars and i think troy has built almost all his cars.I had a pic with his "sniper "plymouth he had a speeding ticket in the front seat for like 132 MPH going through the desert. So i'd say the cars do function rather well, Do any of you remember troys first magazine car?:trouble:
