Radar detectors in CA

Ok so as far as I know radar detectors are illegal in CA, is this true? The reason I ask is that I'm from AZ and I'm going to be taking a trip through cali soon. So even if they are illegal do you think I can use it and get away with playing the ignorance card? Or would it be better to leave it at home? I'm not sure how they handle this matter in cali so any help would be great :)
 
From what I gather, radar detectors are legal in CA, but radar scramblers are not. I won't guarantee any of that though, because it's hard to find direct references to what is and isn't legal regarding radar detectors.

:lol: That's funny almost like saying yeah you can't stab some one with a knife but you can commit murder with a gun. I love some of the laws they've come up with and the thinking behind them.

For someone who lives in another country, where the laws aren't THAT crazy, this is all even funnier than it is already. *rofl*

I'm not talking about getting slack If I get pulled over for speeding, I'm tallking about getting pulled over specifically for having a radar detector.
