so, the old rad in my firebird is needing replacing. of course if i was in america i could probably get a cheap one from a scrappy or anyone breaking, quite likely i imagine. alas im not and asking around a new one here would cost £300ish.
the guy suggested possibly getting one custom built for that much (pro-alloy, serck, alimax etc.) prices from them are reasonable but still more, plus most of their custom is from motorsport that can spend big cash on fancy set ups. i dont need bells and whistles, i'd settle for a straight replacement single core. the other option is lifting one from a different car, a similar size radiator to drop in, with pipes in the right place, dont really want to have to adjust too much.
a standard one looks like this, gm had this great idea of making the rad for the v6 different to the rest

anyone have ideas of cars with a radiator that is similar to this? its around 28" by 18" but there is a bit of room for slightly bigger. top hose on the right and bottom on the left would be ideal, and oil cooler in it.

What is your end tanks like (the two ends where the hoses and cap fits)? if they are still good then you can take it to a radiator shop and they should be able to find a core to fit directly or adapt to them, just core replacement.

As for the rad you are after, Crossflow rads are not real common but GM loved (or still does?) to use them, have you checked the rads of Vauxhalls Omegas and such?

Take your old one into a specialty Radiator shop and they should be able to do something, I once did the same with my 1971 Monaro.

its the end tanks that are split, recoring wouldnt be a problem. i assume it had been frozen by the state of the crack in the plastic. omega rad has holes in the wrong place, and other vauxhall rads have the top hose coming in the side which wont do.
i would take it to a specialty place but really it needs replacing, which is why im looking for cheaper ways or others to fit, currently in talks with a guy breaking one just waiting for a shipping quote for it so i might be going for that one.

Not sure how familiar you are with customization but you should have no problem getting a 2 row universal aluminum radiator for very cheap. It is 2 rows of 1" tubing. Better than a 4 row. Then just build the brackets yourself.

well i havnt found any available here but i did see summit do ones, without oil cooler but i guess i can get another thing, and they dont accept payments from non-us customers or even ship to my address :odd: i saw a good one on ebay...about $140 and it would cost twice that for shipping
