Hi,

did anyone already do a tire test in wet conditions and has a recommendation for me?

In GT5 there were tests done by some people and it was said roughly:
25-50% intermediates
50-100% heavy rain tyres
does this still count in GT6 v1.04?

During the first versions one could easily use racing soft in wet conditions like the 24min championships but that does not really work anymore in v1.04. At least not with my BMW GT2 base model 11 in suzuka for example...
It would be really helpful if anyone could give me the right link (could not find anything with the search function) or share his point of view here.

thx

For me its slicks til 20%, then intermediates until 70%. Of course this all varies during a race due to many factors. All this online btw

I ran the Nurburgring 24min yesterday with RS tires. The rain went all the way up to about 80% yet the tires kept the car on the road. The tires only degraded down to about an 8.

At the moment I use RH tires all the way. In the 24min races RH tires seem to yield faster lap times than wets or inters. (And thats with all aids off:tup:)

I do think that the tire system is broken.

Yeah it seems like RH gets better traction in the wet than in the dry and they dont start to wear until the rain stops. So testing rain stuff is kind of pointless until they fix that..

Online is very different though... we should specify exactly where we're using which choices.

For me I agree with @ParkerMO125 , that's about the right margin for change.

0-25%: Slick tires
25-~90%: Intemediate rain tires
~90%+: Heavy rain tires

100-75%: Heavy rain tires
75-25%: Intermediate tires
25-0%: Slick tires

That's how I used to do it in GT5

I did it yesterday as well with pretty much the same results. Used a GT-R GT500 Base Model on RS tires with all aids off and ABS at 0. I won easily, but ran out of gas after the long straight at the end.

To all those saying wet tires mean nothing.

Go on racing slicks in a practice session. Set water to 100% and set GRIP LOSS to REAL.

Then tell me that rain tires are useless and slicks are best.

The only reason slicks work in career is because grip loss is on low. If it was set to real, everybody would be whining about how hard it is.

I did a one-make race in GT5 once where I set the water to 100% and grip reduction to real. I think I was driving a Fiat 500 or some other low-powered FF car. For some reason I had slicks equipped and I could barely make it around the track.

I have to try that in GT6 now...

Intermediates work a lot better than full Wets during Rain Masters in IA. It is silly to me they created a great weather/rain model while making the Rain Tires poor during career mode.

As mentioned above, Grip set to Real makes a huge difference.

I think I need to explain some spec more detailed.
- Online Lobby
- grip reduction on wet track/track edge: Real

racing tires in heavy wet conditions do definitely not work. this is something I can guarantee:ouch: with 100% wet and racing soft I can't even drive straight....:banghead: even with traction control raised to 5 or so...

So please consider these criteria.

thanks for the feedback so far.

I just tried that! Golf IV touring car with racing hard tyres and 100% water on Stowe Circuit. It wasn't racing, it was curling :D Had to use the handbrake to get the car to turn around at some corners, and I didn't go faster than 20-40 km/h! I could use the top gear throughout the entire track though, because the tyres just spun regardless of what gear I was in.

Someone should make a "Bambi on ice" racing series, I think it could be hilarious!
