actually i got gold very easily. i just drove as if i was racing. can't ever keep my car strait in dirt anyways so racked the points up nicely.

That one was super easy to do. Enter every corner slow (~60 kmh) and just tap the gas constantly and countersteer. Stock rally cars have plenty of power so you dont need any tuning.

Game's off. What seems to be favored in the leaderboards? I wonder how I'd manage with my Lancer 1600 GSR...

Well this should be easy...

Dont see the point of a rally drift event. Not the hardest thing to do. Was hoping it was gonna be a TT.

Well besides the R8 Gordini, it seems like the next cheapest premium rally car would be the Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STI Rally Car '05 at 188,000 cr.

I own the R8, but I couldn't get enough points out of her... maybe this one will do the trick! Hope this helps!

Cheers

I'm not sure about GT5 cause I haven't played it but this has got to be the stupidest seasonal event ever... for shame PD for shame

There is a name for driving rallycars on dirt. But it isnt drifting. It's rally.

The only "good" thing with this event is that it's the first one I've golded with my whee :). Except for the TT's and races that is. It's a shame that its so much easier to "drift" on dirt than on tarmac that I can hardly say that I've learned anything :/

That was a lot more irritating than it should've been. It took me several attempts to finally get gold on this one. The "sweet spots" weren't where I thought they were going to be.

Absolutely! I was pulling my hair out until I worked it out.

For anyone who is not sure, you need to stay in the middle of the road for this one. Don't take a racing line like on the road drifts. And keep a steady pace.

Managed to get 9,067 good enough for 249th at this point (lol) First tune and was just to mess around with the car. So if you just want to get gold and get it out of the way like i did. You can use this as a BASE TUNE. (For those who have the car)

This was a Random Tune. I am not an expert in tuning. So don't expect good results :) It's good enough for a gold. Although depending on your skill may not be guaranteed.

I tried the '85 Pajaro Rally Raid car for fun, but the points system seemed to have no logic. Very few points for being on the inside, even fewer points for actually attempting to drift with the score often being reset for seemingly no reason, then some points for basically driving straight. I also noticed that the nearer I put the torque split to 50/50, the more points I got despite driving exactly the same.

Dirt drifting, just wrong decision from PD.My opinion.

PD did the best possible drift trial they could for people like me. I hate drift trials. I can't drift when changing cars all the time. But when I'm on dirt I'm in heaven in any car. :D

I managed to get gold in a stock Audi Quattro S1 Rally Car 15th Anniv '86.

I respect your opinion my friend. The only think is that the meaning(definition),of Drift Trial is to slide any car on tarmac.Thats why i said that PD did wrong with this. They just could put a separate trial with Dirt in mind, for all the people who like dirt racing, and not called Dirt Drift Trial. This is just my opinion, nothing else!!!

I've noticed this as well. Enter the corner good angle, reverse lock, great slide max revs, and the points stay frozen on say 700. Weird.

As I said above, middle of the road of the road seems to be the sweet spot here. It took me while to work it out, but once you follow the centre of the road, rather than a racing line or hug the inside, the points rack up quickly. 👍

I think we all understand this, but it doesn't change the fact that it still goes against everything you're supposed to do in a drift trial. It almost seemes like an anti-drift trial if anything, my highest score involved virtually no drifting, slipping or loss of grip at all, I just drove around the circuit basically, with a near 50/50 torque split. Getting some decent angles and having the rear tyres spinning should be what gets you the points, not Sunday driving.

I found this aswell last night
I've spent a lot of time behind Richard Burns Rally (arguably the ONLY Rally game for PS that has proper driving physics)
but this was badly scored event.

I had perfect rally lines, bad scores.
SO I tried to use the normal drift logic, low scores again.

then i figured i'd do as above, drive a lot more normally down the middle of the road with the wheels spinning... easy silver.
couldn't even be bothered going for gold.

EDIT
Decided to do 1 run for gold.
Stuff all angle and much slower speed than I'd usually take half the corners.

I did this last night, I just wish I had read the comments here first! Used the Mitsubishi Evo X Rally car, decent tune that meant even I could get the thing sideways no issues and hold it - only to then find I was scoring NOTHING for doing so! I hate that they call rallying "drifting", and I hate drift events anyway, but to then be assigned random amount of points for driving through check points?

Rally cars on tarmac wouldn't go a miss though PD...

DUDE! who came up with this?:irked:

All you guys saying this was easy, you are wrong, and this trial is stupid. I even struggle to get above 10K pts.:grumpy:

Worst... Drift trial... Ever!

But... Setup advice guys? like... what torque split is best to use?

I just used a stock Audi S1

Watch my poor-driving video, forget all you know about rally-driving or drift, just drive a little sideways in the middle of the road with the wheels spinning

Thanks, but your video is a good example of what is wrong with these drift trials, the points just stop counting in the middle of the drift for no apparent reason. The game thinks you're outside the correct line, but you're not!

Anyway, I went with stock differential in the front, and 20/60/20 in the rear, and torque split 30/70. It felt ok, so I went on to study Ferooz's replay to see how he did it, and it earned me some more points in the 3'rd and 4'th sectors just by trying to do the same as he did. 40 minutes later I finally got a score I felt comfortable with (above 13K). and yeah, there is about 500 pts still out there for me, but I think I'll call it a day anyway. I hope gravel and snow drift trials never return.:indiff:

For me, the secret to this was to approach each corner slowly at about 50kph (except the last sector which was up a gear) and enter as if if I was going for a proper driving (non-rally) line, then floor it and let nature take its course. Trying to force it just resulted in failure.
