Hi, I'm not sure if this question should go into the drifting forum or not but I'm having a bit of trouble winning rally races and I think the problem is my technique. I'm not that good at drifting which seems to be essential to rally racing on mud and snow. I have turned off all the assists except skid recovery and I"m currently using a 2000 Lancer Evo 344hp to complete the special events rally races. Whenever I approach sharp turns I'm either coming in too fast or I get the car sideways to lead into the corner but it just keeps going straight and I often hit the outside barrier of the turn. I have tried braking more and using the e-brake but that just seems to make my car sideways but not help with making it actually TURN. Please help.

and try to hold the car in a straight line if ur drifting and sliding all the time you lose many many time

i learned rally driving from the loeb challenge...

abs1 tsc 1 skid rec. on rest off

Skid = On / tadam you became a rally god, try it lol.

Not like you know how to drive a rally car after, you'll just pass the challenge easy.

Dont use tcs it sucks honestly.

Use the gear change display to your advantage ... as soon as the red number starts to flash drop to that gear to take the corner at maximum potential... also if you have the co driver telling you the corners like 4 left, sometimes he says it a gear higher than the red number so listen to him it works!

BHP wise ... get as close to the BHP limit to have the biggest advantage in passing this.

Thanks for help. What about weight reduction on the car? Is that advantegous for rally races or is it better to have more weight for the grip?

Keep traction control all the way off! This kills your power. It's been suggested by others to adjust your torque split to 50/50 front/rear. Makes the car oversteer much less.

Umm the co-driver announce you the corner that comes next but he's not giving you the speed, he's giving you the corner radius, a 7 corner is a very wide corner, when 1 is a hairpin. Rest in the midle is self explanatory.

Absolutely correct ! This is something that is a HUGE help once you get it figured out. A scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the "tightest" corner and 10 being "flat out" speed rather than lifting.... Big tip, big help, big improvement.

Yep,I'm using manual tranny. I can't stand auto anymore because it's in the wrong gear half the time when cornering and doesn't provide as much engagement and thrill for driving.

QFT. TCS kills your time considerably. Did the Loeb events with SRF off, and then tried to snow even with it on and couldn't believe how easy it was. I actually passed Loeb on the 3rd turn.
