Ok, I’m thinking of starting up a little event. A stock car relay race.

Basic concept:
One driver will chose cars based off the regulations of the event, and compete on 5 randomly chosen tracks. Only 3 laps per track. The best time submitted.
(Unless noted otherwise in the regulations.)
Best times for each track added together for final relay time.

Basic Relay Rules.
- Cars to be 100% stock. No modifications of any kind are allowed except the following:
a. Oil changes are allowed.
b. Frame refresh is allowed if the car requires it.
c. Tires can be upgraded depending on the track type, or regulations of the event.
d. If a car comes with upgraded parts that can be adjusted, they must compete in their
default settings.
e. NO driving aids.
f. 2 cars can be flipped in the driving order.

Relay Regulations:
Each relay race will have its own set of regulations.
They will be similar to the following.

Total Max Horsepower: (Total of all cars HP combined)

Drive train requirements: What drive trains are allowed, or not allowed.

Tires: Tire types that are allowed in the event. (Dirt and ice tires as needed for track)

Miscellaneous requirements: New only, Used only, Must qualify for (insert race name here) race, American only, no European cars, no tuners, Must have 4 doors . . . . . .etc.

“BS” rule- You can call BS if you believe that a certain car can not achieve a given lap time. You need 2 or more racers can challenge it. – if it is proven that there is no way that the lap time could be achieved, all times by guilty racer will be multiplied by 2 (two)
If the racers that call BS are proven wrong, their times will be multiplied by 2 (two)

This is how a basic relay race would go.

Beginning of the week the regulations would be posted.

Regulations for race #1.

Total Max Horsepower: 1250

Drive train requirements: x1 (FF, FR, 4WD, MR, RR)

Tires: S-2 only (unless rally track selected.)

Miscellaneous requirements: No “tuner” cars. (Mfg or others), All cars must be from different manufacturers. No “wings” – No cars w/ adjustable downforce.

During the first week racers would then submit the cars that they are racing in the order that they will be racing.

1 – Car 1
2 – Car 2
3 – Car 3
4 – Car 4
5 - Car 5

At the end of the week the tracks are selected. (“R” = Reverse)

1. Trial Mountain – R
2. Grand Valley
3. Tahiti - R
4. Fuji 80’s
5. Sarthe II

At this point racers can flip 2 cars in their racing order to help better their times.

1 – Car 1
2 – Car 5
3 – Car 3
4 – Car 4
5 - Car 2

During the second week, racers run their 3 laps on each track, add together their best times and send them in.

1 – Car 1 x-xx.xxx
2 – Car 5 x-xx.xxx
3 – Car 3 x-xx.xxx
4 – Car 4 x-xx.xxx
5 - Car 2 x-xx.xxx
Total -----x-xx.xxx

Winner will be the one with the lowest time.

Anyone find this confusing?
Anyone interested?

I think it would be a pretty cool race. I like the fact that a variety of cars would be probably be used. Overall it looks like a good concept and the rules seem cool. If you start it up,:) I'd race!

I'm hoping to get at least 5 people interested in order to do a trial run.

Well, it may help if you posted it in the OLR forum. I'll move it for you.

Thanks daan. I was just testing the waters before starting up the actual race thread. But this will work too.

So does that mean that your interested too?

Well, thats 2 people, 3 including me.

2 more to go. Then I will release the regulations for the race.

But if I may ask, what didn't people like about the setup?

** cough cough ** bump **Cough **

Just thought I would give this thread another try. . . See if anyone is interested.

It is hard to get people involved in a race series. I tried to start/add to one thread but nothing eventuated. I like the rules of your race but honestly, time is a big factor for a lot of people, myself included.
