Dibble Bluff: 78°7′S 167°13′E / 78.117°S 167.217°E / -78.117; 167.217) is a conspicuous rock bluff, 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) south of Marshall Cirque on the west side of White Island, Ross Archipelago. The bluff rises abruptly from McMurdo Ice Shelf to over 400 meters. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) (1999) after Raymond R. Dibble, Department of Geology, Victoria University of Wellington, who investigated volcanic eruptions and the seismicity of nearby Mount Erebus in five seasons, 1980-81 through 1984-85.

USS Pawtuxet (1864)

The USS Pawtuxet was a side wheel steamer of the US Civil War and was launched by the Portsmouth Navy Yard 19 March 1864. She was delivered to the Union Navy at New York 18 May 1864 and commissioned 26 August 1865, Comdr. J. H. Spotts in command. She was named after a river in Rhode Island.

Note: Participated in the quest for the Confederate ship "Talahasee"
