I've lost many a good race just because I get interrupted for some reason or the other.
The wife needs to talk, need to answer the door, accidentally changed channels etc etc.

But yesterday it really ticked me off. Been racing aspec with my yellowbird. Detuned it for the one of the championships, drove very carefully, won 1st in three races, third in the fourth. Come last lap of the 5th race, some stupid Tele marketer calls and asks for me by name. So I have to pause and answer the phone. Told her to **** off. Get back into my seat, resume the game by pressing the accelerator. Gave it too much...oversteer, car slams into railing. Ai crashes into me. By the time I get back on track I'm already 7th.

So i fought my way through and made it to 4th. Lost the championship.

What a waste of a couple of hours. Just because of some interruption.

So Im trying to adapt to such problems. Interruptions will happen. Been interuppted a couple of times since then but I've managed to stay accident free.

- make sure i pause when car is travelling in a straight line.
- try to remember how much accelerator I had pressed at the moment of pause.
- NEVER pause when in a turn
- never pause when braking

So far following these guidelines has greatly reduced my chances of crashing after resuming. Interruptions, yet another obstacle in an average GT players life.

Tell me about it! 4 year old and a 3 month old, I work evenings too, so I need to sleep in the day. Haven't touched my wheel in 3 Weeks or so cause I know I need time... hmmm, it's been a while since the wife visited the sister.

I just ignore whatever the interruption is if I'm honest. When I'm playing GT5 it's me time, so anything outside the zone of me, my wheel and my tele are totally ignored. :sly:

But, it's not always like that, especially if my younger brothers or sister comes in my room. >.> I usually just shout and rant. :dopey:

I wish I could ignore everything when playing. Or just have everything ignore me.

I guess i'm a lucky one then,no kids, awesome missus.I do whatever i want,so from now on i aint gonna take it for granted and i'll spare a thought for you poor fellas 👍

I race online almost non-stop... I hate when the phone rings when you're 3 minutes into a lap around nurb with a GTR on your ass. It's like "LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M RACING!!!"

I can empathize with your story, makes me glad I bought the wireless gaming headset. It's much easier to ignore petty things like phones and children. :sly:

This is why I play late at night, after everyone's gone to bed.

Sweeeeet silence!

I usually get a couple hours to myself 2 mornings a week. Now that I'm in college though, those mornings are mostly used up by homework... :(

Unfortunately some interruptions can't be helped. But you never have to answer the phone. If it's important they'll call back. 99% of the time it isn't important(and they'll still probably call back). I finally learned that after dozens of ruined guitar practice sessions. It's not worth destroying your whole train of thought to listen to somebody whine about their problems you can't solve or to just say "so, uhh, what's up?" Even less so for the telemarketers and politicians.

I can handle those interuptions, it's the walking in front of the TV that steams my brocolli. And if I get angry, "It's only a game." grrrrrrrr :)

I used to turn my phone off for guitar lessons. Nothing is worse than your phone vibrating against your guitar as your soloing.

I wait until a straight to pause or answer the phone.

Another tip to add: Not simply pause on a straight, or at full throttle, but this -- do it right after you shift up a gear Extra important with GT5's highly intelligent "give players instant control but slowly fade in the engine sound over three seconds" mechanic.

I can't hear you...I'm RACING!!!

Seriously, I don't answer the phone or answer the door, it's my time and it's important to me. If the call is important or the doorbell ringing, they'll leave a message (if it's the cops, well...they'll kick the door down). The kid has grown up and moved out and the wife gives me my GT time and the we watch tv together after that, it's all about balance and respect. Good Luck

Pausing on the straight when my GF called didn't work during my Nurburgring hotlap in the W12 Nardo. I was driving a Lister Storm previously, so forgot that I needed to use my brakes just before the high-speed s-bends :grumpy:

Not to mention how many times I've turned to follow the Nordschleife after pausing just before the last chicane, only to get an extremely rude reminder that I'm on the 24 hour track :ouch:

ya you have to be real careful when pausing. It immediately throws you out of the zone, flow...whatever you want to call it. They should install a feature that slowly fades you back into the game. Would give you a little bit of time to get you back into the zone.

So I guess I should enjoy the freedom of being a young college student, with no children and limited responsibilities (I still live at home :/).

Although I do have to pause sometimes. It's not good when someone is bugging you while you're playing online. It has happened to me while I'm playing GT5. And it has happened while I'm playing MW3. Not good for the K:D ratio...

Same!

If the phone rings or knock at the door I just ignore it!

GT5 1st, Life 2nd!!!

Correction, own life 1st, others life 2nd.

I really hate phones, they bring with them so much expectation and haste, and apparently if you don't want to be tied to whoever wants to call you at any point in time something is horribly wrong with you.
