Rare Cars

Being a new member here i have a quick question. I have noticed by looking in the Marketplace and in members garages that on the website mygrandturismo that it has a list of all cars and how rare they are. It is based on a 1-10 scale. Are the cars ranked 10 really that rare? I mean are they really that hard to find and obtain? Just wondering if i see some should i pick them up? There are a bunch that i would have no interest in, but if they world be valuable trading wise ya know. I think i have a few that are according to that scale rare.

The rarity number is based SOLELY on what people at mygrandturismo.net report that they own in their garage. It doesn't mean that it's a rare car to show up in the UCD. Of course that means fewer people own that vehicle so it might help in trading.

Ok i got it. Sounds like it could go either way based on that site. Either people aren' t buying the cars because they aren't worth having, which in turn makes it rare that no one owns it. Or in fact could really actually be rare in which is the reason no one has it in thier garage (which is probably very few cases). Is there a list that has been made that actually indeed does have truly rare cars? Thanks alot for the help and quick answers!

Just an example,

on mygranturismo.net (which is a good source on car infos in this regard) the NSX-R Proto racecar is a "4". Good luck with finding it in the UCD. One of the cars which still seem to have a reputation as rare gem, even after this trading and duping period 👍

If you want bargaining chips the best way to go is Birthday, Level 17, and 1000 tickets 👍

Rarity? Tuscani '01 & Tuscani CCS '03 are 10 -very rare according to mygranturismo, But nothing beats HCD6 Concept '01 -an 8 or just rare. Now rare because people doesn't collect them. :)

The law of averages would dictate that they list is mathmatecally accurate, as the sample size of people on MGT is large enough.

What is not accurate though is that it does not take into account the fact that some cars can be bought, and many cars are undesirable which would feed false information into their calculations.

So I have no doubt that their numbers are indicative of the GT5 playing community as a whole. But their formula is too simple...So Down Syndrome and HIV (for example) could both be considered statistically rare in this country, Down syndrome there is no real choice in the matter, whether it is desirable or not has no impact. This could be considered truely rare. HIV would stay rare because people have a choice in it's proliferation and it is undesirable, it's a "controlled" rare.

I like math :)
