An anonymous millionaire has paid a record-breaking £2million for this historic Le Mans 24 Hours-winning Jaguar D-Type

One of only four surviving works racers, it went under the hammer in a private sale organised by London-based Coys auctions. Of the three other remaining D-Types, two are in private hands and the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust owns the last.

2 million pounds is only around 4 million dollars or so. Don't Ferrari 250 GTO's still go for 10 million when they go on the block? Hell, 365GTB Spyders went for 4 million back in the early 80's. What is that, 12 million now?

But remember the D-Type is really rare to find one roads now these days, but most of the D-Types only get on some tarmac or road surfaces for Motor shows.
