Rare used cars!

The A-Spec RX-7 isn't that rare; usually it shows up about every other 10-day cycle. Tougher to find is the '97 RX-7 RS-R. Nice handling when stock admittedly. Look for it in yellow or black.

The Mazdaspeed AZ-1 is a little tougher to find. I found a good 50-day stretch without one, and made do with a stock blue one. Yes, the MazdaSpeed AZ-1 looks nicer, but I don't believe there's any performance gain.

The 4-Door GT-R R33 might show up every 3 cycles, on average. Forget the Autech/Nismo prize version (yellow only), the used car is much better can can get a good dose more power. Oh, and it's not yellow and over-styled.

Stratos is a prize car only. Not a rare used car in the sense of GT2.

280Z's don't exist in GT2. the 240Z does, however.

I have all three North American versions of GT2. I believe the rules are the same for all games.

I have complete charts....

That says the Subaru 22B appears 6 times, on 6 different days (i.e. never more than once on the same day), on days 20, 90, 280, 250, 450 and 500, always in the same colour. The cycle repeats on day 600, so it also appears on 620, 690, 880, etc....

Those are the rarest I kept track of. I also have the appearances of the Starlet turbo-S '82, Skyline RS-X Turbo '84, Corona Exiv 200GT, Eunos Cosmo Type E, and Pulsar GTI-R/Sunny '91, so if anybody wants to know when one of those is coming up, I can help with that. But they're not desperately uncommon...

Did I miss anything?

Okay here are some less than common cars I know:

Subaru Impreza 22B
Less than rare, but not exactly easy to find either.

Datsun 240Z
Coming eventually to the bottom of the use Nissans near you!

Toyota 2000GT
The rarest used car in the game. The most expensive too, at 116K. For a real challenge, try to get one within the first 10 game days, as a gold one appears from days 1-10. A white one and a silver one both appear on days, 10-20. And somewhere around the 170 or 180 day mark, I think a red one appears.

Nissan Skyline KPGC110
The old school Skyline. This is what dominated before 4WD.

Mazda RX7 GT Turbo
Not as rare as the Toyota, but not common even so.

Nissan Skyline GTS-R
Not exactly rare, but not as easy to find as the kajillion other 4WD Skylines that dominate the lot.

Subaru 360
Like anyone cares about this piece of junk. Although I've driven it with full power. It's nimble little car, and somewhat fun in the slower races.

Mazda AZ-1 A Spec
Not completely rare, and neither is the regular one. But still not the easiest car to find.

So this is all the rare used cars so far:

  • Subaru Impreza 22B
  • Nissan Datsun 240Z
  • Suzuki Cappuccino
  • Toyota 2000GT
  • AZ-1
  • Nissan '71 Skyline
  • Mazda '83 RX-7 Turbo
  • Toyota Celica RC '91

Right-e-o. I don't know where this AZ-1 ones from so could someone please tell me. Post any other rare used cars if you know of any more.

Mazda Autozam AZ-1

Great lists and related thoughts on GT 2's rarest used cars. Thanks everyone for posting. I notice that there are several noteworthy rare used cars not included in many, if any lists. For example, many used car arrays include the Subaru 22B but what about the extremely desirable 1995 Subaru Impreza Type RA Coupe (my absolute favorite of the several mostly equivalent Type RA's available although the used '97 coupe is also quite serviceable but not really a rare vehicle)? Or the Mazda RX-7 RS-S ? There are several other worthwhile not-so-frequent to fully hard-to-find rare used cars which I will present for your consideration sometime soon.

In the meantime, this and the other GT 2 GT Planet forums are great, with lots of trivia, history, a plethora of valuable info from tuning tips (& full explanations) to helpful advice on skill development, thoughtful suggestions of profitable races to meet anyone's needs and so much more including of course, stimulating discussions about the myriad suggestions re: the "best" cars in every class & for each race. A big thank you to every GT Planet member who has posted valuable or otherwise interesting information all of which has assisted me in increasing my total GT 2 knowledge.
