? re gifting/backup

Hi all,

I'm a long time GT player and got the latest installment the day it came out. I however did not have a PS3 at the time and won't have one until Christmas. So i started playing GT5 on my roomate's PS3.

Now I'd like to play the game on my own PS3 with the cars I have acquired from the past few weeks of playing. I did not know if gifting is the only way to do this or post 1.05 I can backup the savegame from his PS3 onto the new one I will be getting. I don't care whether or not I have to restart the GT mode I just would hate to have put in a bunch of time that goes down the drain.

Also, can you only gift one car a day? I have over 50 in my garage so it would take a while to gift them all over.

You can back up your data on a USB memory stick and transfer it to another PS3 as long as the old PS3 has version 1.05. Once copied over you can carry on where you left off. You'll need to be signed in to your PSN to install the larger 6GB install again and version 1.05 on the new PS3 though.
 
Awesome. I don't have an account yet though I was going to create one for myself when I get a PS3 - I was playing in my roomate's account so far. Will that affect the copy over?

I'm new to this whole PS3 thing :sly:.

From what I've read, it will only work with the original users account.
 
The game saves are bonded to the PSN ID, so unless you use the same ID as your roomate in your PS3, it won't let you use the save... Besides, the save might be bonded to the PS3 itself too.

What would then be the point of backing up the save data if it doesn't let you use the backup when the PS3 goes fishing?
 
It's not bonded to the console. You just have to put your new account, and the 1.05 update on the new console before loading the save.
