However much I agree that there are too many Mustangs being nominated, at least a lay observer can easily distinguish between

and

As being obviously different cars, unlike some previous cases.

I thought by now we've polled every single trim level of every single Mustang ever made? Where do they keep coming from?

Coming Up Next: Every trim level of Mazda MX-5 and Nissan Skyline GT-R ever made. :p

There is literally no reason why that Mustang should be polled. It will either get "Oh my god you are the worst kind of people this is the fourteenth Mustang polled" SU votes OR you will get "It's a concept car, why is it being polled?" SU votes.

I am both of those people. Fourteen.

Hopefully never.

That's a reason. To prove how uncool people think it is.

That's a reason. To prove how uncool people think it is.

It doesn't prove that though. We've already had the New Edge redesign and the pre-facelift Cobra R from this generation to have already proven that the fourth gen is uncool. All this does is reiterate that repolling is acceptable, which it shouldn't be, and that polling a Mustang for the fourteenth time is acceptable, which it isn't.

No-one, no-one on this forum will change their opinion on the Ford Mustang no matter how many times they are polled. And an obscure concept car of a Mustang only a handful of people have ever heard of, of a Mustang already considered uncool by this board, is of no time or interest to the board.

Eh, it can be interesting to see how the opinions of the board change over time, as new members join and old members develop, but repolling effectively the same vehicle is unacceptable (ie. I didn't think my nomination of the P400S was actually acceptable, and if I was the curator I would have turned it down, but a P400SV that period of time after the P400 is noticeably different enough to the lay observer from the P400 to be fine), and having the same nameplate pop too often (as has happened with the Mustang) just becomes frustrating.

Personally I think that we should move to the previously suggested "seasonal" approach to the cool wall. I think putting polling on hiatus, allowing the nomination list to fill up to 40 cars or so, and then closing nominations until they run out and posting no more than 4 polls a week (I think 4 is optimal, keeps the interest up without becoming over the top, although 3 is fine too.) is the first step in reforming the cool wall that needs to be taken.

Also, a limit of one model of any name plate per two "seasons" should be put in place so as to keep the repetition down. (So only one Ford Escort every two seasons, say.)

Also, we need to ban Mustangs from being nominated for at least the next year, if not more. They don't even get fair polls any more because everyone votes SUBAFM.

Just a disclaimer, for lack of a better word (this has little to do with you, Roger): Please, no one ask me to enforce rules about Mustangs being polled, unless you're a mod/admin. As curator I feel I have to stay neutral in decisions like this, so that's what I'm doing.

I've argued this one a lot and you were against it. What has changed your opinion?

As curator I feel I have to stay neutral in decisions like this, so that's what I'm doing.

But as the person who runs the cool wall, isn't that the point? You're running it so I don't see why you can't or shouldn't be able to say "we can poll this, we can't poll that"* as opposed to "you can't say this, you can't say that" which would be a mod's job.

*Whether people agree with the bylaws is, of course, totally separate. But it's the principle I am on about.

I don't remember being against it, I think I was just initially wary of the idea. Once I considered it further against other options it started to seem like the best option.

On the Alternative Cool Wall I generally tried to gently point out to people that their nomination wasn't very good (which usually results in them changing it) without denying them the right to nominate something which doesn't actually violate any rules if they really want to nominate it.

Well, don't you know? Ford made millions of Mustang trims and not to mention all of the tuned variations made by Saleen, Roush, & etc.

Honestly, if someone made a list of every variation of the Mustang, it would be a huuuuuge list. There would be probably a lot of pages to fill it.

Anyway yeah, I agree that it doesn't really need to be polled that much. I honestly wish people would stop just on the fact more and more people will grow tired of it.

Because if someone wants to nominate a 100% legit car, but it's a car that I don't want them to nominate, so I reject the nomination, that's not really fair, is it?

Trust me, I'm 100% against polling more Mustangs. But I'm not going to prevent people from nominating them.

Eleanor?

The cool one. Not the fiberglass, metallic grey piece of crap that was barely driven in the remake.

[unpopularopinionpuffin] I actually prefer the '67 Shelby version over the '73 Mach 1 version, both car and movie.* [/unpopularopinionpuffin]

*That's not to say that I don't like the original movie.

Goodness, I didn't know my nomination was going to cause such a stir. I didn't realize that it was such an over-polled car (I participate in voting for the Cool Wall every now and then). The only reason I suggested that car was because I was curious where it would stack up in relation to the FR200 Focus that is currently being polled. Fully expecting it to do as bad, if not worse than the Focus. (Don't really like the car myself to be honest.)

So since it isn't in the queue yet, should I just withdraw my nomination and pick something else? Or just leave it be?

EDIT: Scratch that, it is in the queue. Not too late to withdraw, I hope?

Nothing is too late, but you will be sent back to the end(which is only 2 cars back).

...and I was fully expecting that. I'd rather that happen when it's 51st in line rather than 2nd.

@GranTurismo916, would it be okay if my previous nomination be removed from the queue? Since Mustangs are over-polled, perhaps I can come up with something else.

See, this is exactly why I asked people not to ask me to enforce rules about the Mustang.

Yes.
