Note: I'm using a DFP wheel.
In the options menu change the 'steering assist type' to 'professional'. I've had it on 'simulation' all this time and that way it's almost impossible to drift. Now countersteering actually has effect! WHOOOOHOOOO! I can drift and I ****ing love it. I think this is the reason why a lot of people have trouble drifting. I think I have never seen it mentioned here before :odd:
FAQ's should begin with info like this IMO

I assume you are using the regular Driving Force, not the Driving Force Pro (DFP), because in the Settings menu it says that this is disabled for the DFP.

:odd: Nope using the DFP. In the options menu this is changeable... I'm PAL?

*EDIT* Using the DS2 I was never able to 'catch the car' the way I can now, it just oversteered, do you think I've got something here?

Hrrrmm, I don't know? In the NTSC version, it does let you change those settings under the STEERING menu, even with the DFPro. However, the little 'news ticker' at the bottom says that these settings are disabled for the DFPro and active for the DF. Odd! I'll try changing mine and see if it makes a difference.

Hey Duke sorry for the long abscense. In my PAL version, it does let you change these settings I think, not sure though.. will check, (playing GT4). Can it be the default setting (or with DS) of the PAL version is simulation? (Seeing Pal versions of GT's are harder?) The only way for me to ever even come close to drifting is with my new DFP and pro steering assist. And now it's easy :) It would explain why so many people have trouble drifting... I hope to get back to you on this soon... (If this is true, this could be the same with GT4) I'll test diff. settings but I won't be able to compare: We need someone with both systems to really check.
