a 1970 challenger r/t or a nissan titan, which one would win in a probably a 1/4 mile drag. neither are tuned at all.

thats what I thought... but I don't know if its on tarmac or something else, because it probably will not be in the town limits.

IMO I would put my money on the titan. And no I do not even like imports but numbers are numbers

hmmm what makes the decision for you. I thought the weight of the titan would put down its power advantage.

Just how light do you think your 70 challenger is? And age is also a factor if it is like you said , not been tuned

If you going by the numbers the Titan is in the high 14 to low 15 sec. and the challenger in the 13 sec.

Maybe for the challenger in 1970 but that was 42 years ago. That engine has a whole lotta wear on her. Also I'm curious of the transmissions?

I was going on that both were new or at least the Dodge had a rebuilt engine/ transmission.

Wait you're going to perform a back road drag race between a Nissan Titan pick-up truck and an old Challenger? How do conversations even come up like this?

But anyway, Dodge cited the 383 R/T at 14.3 in the quarter mile. Edmunds tested the Titan with a 15.3 quarter mile. So the Challenger is faster on paper, however there are so many different factors that play into a drag race, especially one "outside the town limits" it would be hard to say.

Drag racing is usually won off the line when using non prepped surfaces.

With that learn to get off the line with out spinning and the Charger should have this wrapped up.

This is actually happening? Heh. I thought it was just a slightly strange hypothetical.

Tires and surface are the biggest factors.

You might want to dyno the Charger or at least make a rough estimate based on engine wear and modifications.

The Charger is a bit lighter than most would think since it's without modern safety technology weighing it down.

Edit: The Charger is 3800lbs. About .6s tons lighter than the Titan.

Either way, I would worry most about whether you could get the Charger's tires to hook.

My money would be on the Charger, but I wouldn't be blown away if it didn't win.
