real driving simulator?

mods if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it!!,


but i dont think that any driving game can be a driving simulator unless it gives you clutch control and the ability to stall the engine. if anyone agrees feel free to post here with your own ideas how it could be ade into a simulator cos at the minute its just a driving game not a simulator
 
lol at this, when does a car stall when your moving?....to get a decent start you have to put the revs on anyway...so its impossible to stall the car. no need imo. wouldnt make a difference if it was there or not in my opinion.

i would agree with you if it was just a simulator and you just drove it about on the streets casually but its litereally impossible to stall a car when racing.

Wow. True as well. But anything can be a simulation
Besides. GT stalls only half way. You can Turn on Clutch if you have G25, but if you miss shift without Clutch, the car RPM may drop to 0 (when car is still) and go to N.
SO its pretty much just like stalling the car.. except there is no START/IGNITION button. To start the Car again, Move H shifter to N, Press Clutch and go to the desired gear again.

So meaning you don't need to have every aspect of real thing in a game. Just the major, or few ones. Even Imitating cars by Graphics alone means its a sim, since GT has one of best car models compared to real life means its a SIMULATION. Not to mention one of best Car Physics in my opinion.
 
Yeah you get the clutch with the G25 now its not perfect but its there, And I hope in the future poly will fully support the G25 and give you the options to tweak the wheel and pedal's witch I think they will.

As for a full stall it would be very cool, and I think it would be one of those little extra's that makes a game epic. Its all in the little things.
 
I bet PD have so much in store for us in FULL GT5 game that will blow us away.

Everyone Expects damage and 24hour cycle. Sure it won't be perfect, but all the other small detail to make this game a better sim will be there. Sometimes people worry just too much.

Anyways, Gran Turismo doesn't have a horn that you can use to barge through the field like Bo and Luke Duke, so the thread is actually right. Gran Turismo is a driving game and will never be a simulator. They gotta put a horn in the game first.

And I can't turn the headlights on. What sort of simulator is that?

And there are NO CUPHOLDERS!!!!! ARRRRRGH!

What a crap game. Excuse me while I go and play with my Hot Wheels.

At least they're real.....

What about automatics? Standard transmissions are on their way out. Take the new GTR for example. Tiptronic transmissions or whatever you like to call them are the future.

Because you like that person, or think they're cute/hot/etc.? I don't need any reason to have my avatar except that I think the woman is beautiful. There's no rule that says otherwise, and women as avatars have been a fad around 3-4 times now on GTP.

As silly as it sounds, i really want a horn in GT5. I would get endless joy honking at some guy who tried to put me off the track and is now sitting in the sand.

They do..if you have the G25..and I think it only works in arcade..

That will happen once GT fixes current complaints, then these items will be on the "If GT doesn't have __________ I wont bother buying it" list. Nice ideas though :dopey:

I know the DFGT wheel (designed for GT5) has a horn button and some said they have heard it being used (I havent)

LOL, I just kinda find it funny is all really. Waay off topic I know, but when we can't put faces to names on the forum, the first thing I think of when someone mentions McLaren, or Beerz, is "oh yeah, her. She's cool."

Even though you guys are... sorry, MEN are clearly blokes... sorry... MEN, the imagery associated with your avatars always brings female imagery to mind.

Threads like this are getting a bit over the top now. If you want a REAL SIM then go and spend a few million and buy one!

Dont expect Polyphony Digital to give it to you for £40 or $60 or whatever!

Microsoft Flight sim is one of the best around, if not the best around, but it will NEVER, EVER, EVER compare to a real flight sim that pilots use to train on, because one for a PC costs no more than £100, where as the ones for pilot training cost a good few million £££!!

Stop your whining and just enjoy it as it is!

It's not just price.

Microsoft flight sim is like most 'sims' they are made so most people can still pick them up, I use microsoft flight sim along with 10 or so custom mods to make it as real as I can get.

I mean MSFS doesn't even model flight management computers yet (FMC's).

Yes, your right, its not JUST about price, but obviously if you spend a few million you will ALWAYS get something A LOT better than if you spend £40!!

I have a DFGT and i'm pretty sure that the center button is not connected to anything and is just for looks. Has anyone been able to assign ANYTHING to the center button, even on PC?
 
I hear Horn will make in to the game, at least the FULL version of GT5
 
To be honest I dont see the point in a horn other than "for the sake of having one"!

Put that extra development time towards something useful....

for online to sound to other car, i hear when other driwer sound to me you can hear just VOICE

The GT-R has a manual transmission. The clutch is just automated. There is a huge difference between a manual gearbox with a clutch and an automatic planetary gearbox with a torque converter. Manuals are definitely not on their way out.
