Lol. The reason I haven't traded the tec-9 in is for two reasons: 1.its not worth hardly anything($300 for a completely unfired one) 2. My dad gave it to me, so it's kind of like an heirloom lol.

Like you said, I don't really like putting something on my weapons that will make it less reliable. I've currently been looking to add some newer accessories to my Hi-Point .45 Carbine. They have some decently cool ones for it that are just handy. I put a double magazine holder on it, so now, with one clip in ready to go, I have two more fully loaded waiting to be used on the gun. Just something that helps with time and ease of use. A muzzle break would be nice on it though.

I definitely am gonna have to throw down at least that $265 to get a .22 long rifle because I don't have one and need it for my BOB.
I guess Tec 9's a keeper.

I'm currently trying to buy my first "BOB", as soon as the Maxpedition Vulture II drops to around $120.

This .22LR will be a survival rifle then? Aren't there couple of articles out there claiming how 10/22's the best survival rifle? It's kind of funny, because I'm sure when they decided on the 10/22, they took the wide availability of .22LR ammunition into account....... that idea went out of date since December or so.

I always thought those 10/22 takedown, or that "survival" rifle's kinda cool, too. Probably ideal for attaching or concealing inside the BOB.

P.S. I thought Hi-Point Carbine came only in the 9mm. .45ACP sounds cool. 👍

My BOB is just a large reliable duffle bag. I have most of the things I'll need in there: rope, lighters, high calorie food that's light, first aid kit, gun cleaning kit, and a lot more of other stuff. Like you said though, now even .22 ammo is a little hard to find. I want a lot of .22 ammo to put in my BOB ammo can. I honestly probably will get a 10/22. Even if it's used and in good condition.
Fun fact about the tec-9: the company went out of business after columbine shooting because their guns were used in it and were being banned. So finding parts is almost impossible, but I've managed to find a complete repair kit for it. Only about $100 too. It's from a company that bought all the parts from Intratech. I probably wouldn't repair the gun now, more than likely use the gun until something broke, then repair it.
My .45 Hi-Point is a definite defense weapon. I got some hollow points for it, so I'm pretty sure it'll do some damage. Lol.
I also have a funny story about the recent restrictions with the amount of ammo you can buy now. I went into academy and grabbed about ten boxes of .45, .243, and. 357 combined and they told me I couldn't do it. Lol. At this point I honestly get a little upset because I don't like the fact that I can't buy more than one box at a time. So I ask if they can keep the ammo at the register and I walk back in and buy it, again I get a no. So, I decide to just tell them to put them back and I'll walk back in and get it myself. So I do walk in again and grab another box of ammo on top of the one I was able to buy in the other transaction, and they couldn't refuse me because I was only buying one box. They even brought the manager because I guess they were getting sketchy, an I explained to him what I did, and even he said that technically if I walk out of the store and then come back in, that I'm a different paying customer. Moral of the story: I still get amounts of ammo I want, just takes longer. Lol

10/22 is a safe choice, unless you find some steal of a deal on another gun. 👍

Ammo shortage thing is just nuts. I stockpiled ammo, at least as much as I could afford in 2012. SO lucky. I came across some killer deal on .45ACP($29.99 for 100rds), .308($8.97 a box), also bought some Black Friday deal .22LR($15). As a result, for very little shooting I do, this shortage could last another year, maybe two & I won't even feel the pinch. Two other coworkers I'm friends with also did the same, and we are all feeling pretty good. :D

Luckg bastard. Lol. I only have about 100-200 rounds per caliber of gun I have. :/ Enough to hold down fort, but not enough to last with never getting ammo again.

Hey guys ... opinion time, please. Thanks 👍

I'm currently in the market for a Kimber Longmaster VT 22-250. Yes, I'm well aware of the cost :nervous:, but I do a have a tentative deal in the works. I'm trading in some stuff against this rifle. Basically, an even trade off. Before I strike a deal, I'd like your opinions on this piece (hopefully, hands on experience can tell me a story). I've heard a lot of good, then again, I've heard ... overated

Thanks again guys, appreciate it.

I know that Kimber's quality of 1911's has been plagued with QC problems for a while now. People are getting parts from other guns which are leading to malfunctions. a6 ended up with a good example at a good price. I haven't heard much about their bolt guns.

Before I can comment on the rifle itself, I'd ask what you plan to do with the rifle. You can get a lot of gun for $1,000+. Most likely I'd go for something cheaper and then spend the difference on getting some nice refinements. Get some better optics than you were expecting, maybe take it to a smith, cerakote, buy a nice shooting support, the possibilities are endless.

I'm primarily a target shooter. So that would be the reasoning. My local gun club has a small group that shoots 22-250 and I'd like to join in on this. As far as price, it will cost me $0.00. What I have tentatively slated will be a wash out, no money exchanged. So with that, yes, the possibilities will be endless. Cerakote, optics, laser, bi-pod, yadda, yadda, yadda, the list can go on. The guys I've spoken to at my club have had varying opinions. Obviously, the 22-250 guys are all positive, the other guys are like ... meh, overated. Don't you just love diversity ?

This weekend when I go over to the club, I'm going to hit some of these guys up and hopefully can get a hands on experience with one of these. As far as small caliber rifle, I have a blast with my Savage 17 HMR, I love this thing, but it is time to move on to another small caliber rifle ... just for a change of pace.

Yeah, I'm happy with my Kimber 1911, but I'm also of the impression that Kimber is bit overpriced & overrated. I have zero knowledge on their rifles. Sorry.

I don't have that many, but I don't shoot a whole lot. I probably have close to a thousand round of .45ACP & .308, also plenty of various loads of 12-gauge & .22LR(roughly 3,500).

I'd like to have that many rounds for my .45. That's, at this point, my most reliable weapon. I've never had it jam. My shotgun is a Remington 870 20 gauge. I have numerous bird shots and a lot of buckshot and slugs.

Ah, now I got you.

The fact that 22-250 seems to provide a special case for you, it might be a chance to jump on. I know Remington makes the 700 in 22-250, that's a more affordable and well proven gun. I really don't know much of the specifics. I would ask someone knowledgeable from that group how the Kimber compares to something like the 700.

Haha, yup. Having a 22-250 rifle will probably be more accurate and powerful than you can use. It will also enable you to get into a local shooting community that could provide some good fun.

That would be best. Maybe some of the other guys here knows 22-250 rifles well.

This old-timer always preached me to buy & stock up on ammo("buy a box of shells every payday" he'd say lol). I've always been like whatever, but I'm glad I listened to him little bit. I'll start stocking up after this for sure.

Edit: For whatever reason, I can still find buck & slugs at Walmart from time to time($11 & change for box of 15!). And yes, I'd been stocking up. :D

Yeah, my grandpa told me the same thing. I have seen slugs at Wal-Mart every time I've gone and taken advantage every single time. Lol. In today's rationing of ammo, that's like gold.

Seeing as banks offer .0001% interest these days, I'm thinking that after this assault weapons ban idiocy dies down I'll make an investment in some 30 round magazines or even a few stripped lowers. Next time there's a scare, I'll sell the ones I don't want. Buy low, sell high.

Some people might cry anger at so called "price gouging", but honestly this is basic free market economics.

Yeah. I'll definitely be stocking up when I get my tax money this year. I've found a few websites with magazines, and I have to enter my state to verify I can get them shipped, an every time I put in Louisiana, it says I'm eligible. So if that's the case, I'll be getting a few. But I'm only going to buy a ffew at these super boosted prices right now.

So, I'm going to drive to Nuremberg to the international firearms and outdoor exhibition now and I'll (if my camera doesn't crap out) return with a truckload of pics tomorrow. See you later guys! :)

Yeah, I've noticed the role timing plays in buying guns, magazines & ammunition. I can't believe the rush to buy firearms. This is the worst pricing & worst selection I've ever witnessed in firearms shopping.

Have fun & safe trip Michael. Looking forward to the report & pics. :D:tup:

my 1964 romanian AK-47 the day i bought it...

first thing i purchesed was 2 TAPCO 5 round magazines, in NY STATE you have to have less than 6 rounds in your auto loading rifle to hunt deer...

disasembeled for cleaning and adding a place to mount my bi-pod...

modified the lower hand guard to mount bi-pod...

i then added a UTG 5th Gen Quick Detachable Double Rail AK Side Mount, and a Bushnell Trophy 1x32 Riflescope, Matte Black - Red & Green T-Dot Reticle...

and here are the most recent pics, i never thought to put the TAPCO 5 round mags in the AK for pics so it has a stock 30 round mag...

The AK-47 is one of my favorite guns. Looks great with the bipod and scope. You will have to get some more video. 👍

Don't have any pictures of my whole collection, but here is an AR15 that I took to show my friend, on how my build was going.

I bought a rifle kit from Palmetto State Armory, which comes with everything, except the stripped lower. The upper was put together by PSA, but the rest I did my self. The lower is a Spikes Tactical, and I put in a Fail Zero bolt/hammer. Magpul MOE Handgaurd/ACS stock/MIAD Grip/AVG2 foregrip/Trigger guard/PMAG/MBUS, all in Flat Dark Earth. I have a Vortex Strikefire red/greet dot. I also have a Ikickhippies SLAP plate(not pictured) for a single point sling.

Love that AK! Matte wooden finish is perfect  So jelly!

Nice AR-15 Silent! I would slap a nice camo on it :D

In Canada, we almost never advertise what we have, or love. Yet we are the 13th country with guns / 100 people in the world. A silent majority no doubt.

I could see the need for one in Canada though, don't want to be attacked by bears and stuff.. :indifferent:

It's becoming harder and harder every day to get/own a gun here in EU. At least here in Finland, even though we still have quite a lot of hunters down here. Idiotic school shooters and other f*ggots ruining it for those who would use them responsibly. And even usefully! Controlling amounts of some little carnivores, deer and stuff like that.

I loved shooting targets during my mandatory military service but getting into that hobby as a civilian is just too much hassle for me.. :p

Mandatory in Finland? I tought that was a 70's/80's thing!

I looked up what I have to do to legally own a gun in my own house. I have to go to the cityhouse to get a 'green card', that show's I'm a good citizen () Then to the shooting school, shoot atleast 14 rounds every month for a full year, then they check my records again and then finally I'm allowed to have a gun at home, but only if I have a safe where I can store my bullets and police will come to my house randomly once in every 6 months to check the gun isn't put together, plus I have to put the parts spread all over the house.

I could do it but not sure it's worth it..

Not a 70's thing, no! :D They actually trained me an officer, lol  A "reserve officer" that is though, which is a good thing. So nothing "professional"! Every healthy guy still has to serve at least 6 months in the army. Us "leaders" they make serve 12 months.

Don't know how that's going to change in the future with all of these things happening in the EU...

But, seems it's not too easy over there either! So you don't have to have a proper safe for the gun itself? You just scatter the pieces all over the house? Sounds pretty ghetto to me!
