@Nick: Yeah I saw that they overturned a veto to get it. Very nice.

Zenith: what's a DA? Dumb Ass?

 DA = District Attorney. Kind of lawyer who prosecutes people who do serious crimes.

She probably got some instruction from an officer who thinks that his badge makes him the ultimate authority on firearm handling.

Hey guys I have a question. I managed to get my Crosman 760 Pumpmaster to hold air again today after being out of commission for the last couple years. The model I have is a November built 1992 760-D. From what I am gathering the 760 has never had a rifled barrel on it. I don't know much about air rifles but I can tell you my rifle I all original and the barrel on it is definitely rifled. Do I have some rare model or something because having a rifled barrel on a 760 is definitely out of the ordinary and no one believes me. I peaked down the barrel today to check and I can confirm the barrel is definitely rifled.

What is the deal here?

Sorry bud, can't help 'ya on this one. I'm not an air gun type ......

Neither am I. I prefer the big boys but I use these to plink off pests in the yard and target shoot. From what I hear the d model is the last of the rifled 760s.

Guys, there are threads dedicated to air guns & knives. Happy digging. :P
It's all a matter of personal preference, but I'm not a big grip safety fan myself. One thing about grip safeties that my friend told me about is this:

*Ignore title of video, it is misleading and there is no gore at all

In that video, the guy puts his thumb behind the slide and pulls the trigger. In an emergency close quarter defense situation, if your striker fire gun is pressed up against the body of the assailant, the slide could be out of battery and thus the gun wouldn't fire. If you put your thumb behind the slide, it can hold the slide in place and allow the gun to fire, so that hopefully once the shot is fired, you can back up, rack your slide and be ready for the next shot. You wouldn't be able to do that on a gun with a grip safety.

Of course, I do not recommend that you stick your thumb behind the slide at all, but my friend has done it on his Glock 19 and that video also demonstrates the technique, and in a life or death situation, it may be a worthwhile option to have.

I had no idea. Thanks for posting the video. 👍

I think the preference applies to your approach to such situation too though. For me, it would be much simpler to go hand-to-hand, either take the assailant down, or at least get him off my gun than trying to change my grip, positioning my thumb on the back of the slide, all the while I'm struggling with this guy, probably trying to grab the gun away from me.

Very valuable technical knowledge though, never even crossed my mind!

Yesterday I ordered two of these:

And one of these:

How many mags you got now, Brett? Gun did come with the speed loader, right? Just back-up?

I believe those two will put me up to twelve now. I will have to check. Yes, the gun came with the loader, but I figured it was a good idea to have a second/backup.

twelve now.

Do you even have enough ammo to load all of them up?

What I need spare of is a bushing tool for my 1911(simple plastic takedown wrench thing). I have only one, and you never know.

After the two magazines I just ordered arrive, I have enough ammunition to load all--I just checked how many magazines I have and the number is ten--twelve to load every magazine multiple times and still have a bit leftover. I have not done any shooting in quite a while. I had a decent amount of ammo on hand before the recent shortage and I just added another 400 rounds. So I have a good amount on hand.

I have vacation scheduled for next week and will likely make a trip or two to the range. I may also head to the big local store next week and check out their summer expo.

Sounds good man. I hope you have fun next week then. 👍

Keep looking around for a long gun, too. That'd be pretty exciting. :D

Yep, deadly water-soaked "2.2mm" rifle rounds. So, so deadly... LOL

You can always trust the Daily Mail for rational, well-researched, well-thought-out, not at all sensationalistic headlines. It's shocking that some people here actually consider it a newspaper.

Shot this group yesterday, 308, 110 yds. The one flyer on the left was caused by breathing error while pulling the trigger.

Looks not bad, but for this load I used the cheapest most inconsistent bulk-pack 150 grain flatbase bullet with a tight crimp and a really strong load - not a target load by any means and got almost match-grade accuracy out of it. :dunce:

Yeah, that story was posted probably couple of pages ago. I remember some American & British people were commenting on their page how pathetic the all that fuss was over. Desperate to sell the headlines I guess.
I thought this was a neat video:
I had read about their gun laws before, since it sounded so unique & fascinating. Video is still very cool. 👍

That coin seems to be about the size of a American penny. That's some good shooting Michael. 👍

I went to the big local range's Summer Expo today and fired three weapons. I fired a LMT AR-15, a Springfield Armory XDM-9 5.25" Comp, and a Walther PPX. I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to rifles. I probably should pick up something in .22LR and put a whole bunch of rounds through it.

The XDM-9 was okay. Maybe with more experience behind the pistol, I could learn to make the trigger work. But with just a few shots, it was lacking. The trigger is not any where as good as the trigger on my PPQ. However, the fiber optic front sight was very visible and easy to pick up.

The Walther PPX appears to be a very good option in the lower price range. The ergonomics are quite similar to the PPQ. From a picture I have seen online, the grip could be basically the exact same. The trigger is no where near as good as the PPQ, but was good enough. If Walther had gone with a paddle magazine release instead of a push button, then I would very seriously consider buying one and would likely end up buying one eventually.

Yeah, considering the distance, it's impressive. 👍

Never heard of PPX before, Brett. What caliber & price range are we talking about?

Walther makes the PPX in 9mm and .40 S&W. Both examples they had on hand were in 9mm. The one I shot had a threaded barrel. MSRP is $449 to $499. However, I believe I have seen them for $400 to $425.

The PPX looks pretty bad in pictures. The pistol does not look nearly as bad in person. The slide is definitely on the large side and pictures really exaggerate the size.

Like cheap-plasticky? It is cheaper than I thought though!

It did not feel like Walther cut any corners on making a lower price point pistol.

Well, for the price, you can't expect high-end Sig quality from it or anything, but I think affordable handgun like that, if quality & reliable, offer another nice option for the buyers. 👍

My friend sent this to me:

Regardless, everybody should own a .22LR rifle, handgun, or both. What a great little round. They are so much fun too, and at least used to be cheap.

I own a .22 handgun. Ruger MK1, they are fun to shoot.

As far as concealed carry ..... NAH, I'll stick with my P226 Sig. ;)

Is the P226 a nice concealed weapon?

It's interesting that many concealed carry permit holders seem to choose to carry a full-size pistol rather than something smaller and intended to be concealed.

Yeah, I guess in winter clothing, or less formal/baggy clothing, it's doable. I think nutnfancy or maybe even someone here once commented though, only good conceal carry weapon is the one you can always take with you. It is a nice Sig.

On the video, I think the point of that was more about how .22LR is doable. I've yet to see anyone argue .22LR against the 9mm & up. Having said that, I'm gonna get me some CCI(or whatever the manufacturer's called) if I can find them.

P.S. If the money was no object, my top-3 choice are still the 3 Glocks(G26, 19 & 30S). Glock 26 would be ideal truly concealable gun for me.

My father with his .17 HMR he uses to woodchuck hunt (tournament a few years ago) and a deer he got a few years ago.

This is me popping off rounds on my uncles M4 a few weeks back. Unfortunately the phone quit recording before it recorded the fully automatic stuff. That's my uncle standing next to me.

Sorry for the low quality video. It's much better on my dads phone, he recorded it. He sent to me though and the quality dropped.
