Moving to Automotive forums as this has nothing to do with GT4.

But what is the point when the Skyline engine can be tuned to produce 1000bhp anyway, and it'll probably be lighter than that 6.7 litre V12?

And, if this thread shows up ONE MORE TIME, you'll be banned for advertising, so take the hint I just PMed you.

I read about this car in a magazine ages ago. It was just yellow and black then with no decals on it.

As said before, the RB26DETT will produce in excess of 1000hp if the proper parts are used, so all installing the V12 does really, is play around with the car's balance.

That's an opinion...

The Skyline engine requires a little more than 12 PSI of boost to get there and with it's cast iron block, it is not any lighter than the all aluminium V12.

It is not an opinion. It is a fact.

The GT4 forum tagline reads.
Share your driving style, tuning tips, strategies, and more! General discussion about GT4 and GT4 Prologue.
This car is a real car. It is not a car from GT4. Therefore the topic should not be in the GT4 forums.

Weight distribution :

Stock R 34 V Spec : Front 57 %, Rear 43 %.
"Unlimited" Project : Front 55%, Rear 45%.

I was on Zandvoort when I saw that car. Ugly painted though. Hood is not the same as the rest as the bodykit.. Inside looks like totally removed, just a steering wheel and a seat.. And rollbar. Though, it's a pretty nice car..

While I admit that a V12 QT Skyline might be interesting purely for academics...but isn't 4 turbos a bit overkill? And like everyone already said you can get that kind of power from the RB26DETT engine. Just seems like a waste really, you should put that V12 in a car that can't really get that much bhp...like an S14 Silvia for instance. Or drop the V12 in the NEW Skyline (AKA Infinity G35 Coupe). And by the way, TopGear tested an insanely fast Skyline with over 1000bhp--so this one that you've posted about isn't really "new and exciting" now is it?

That was the yellow 1200BHP Skyline where you are talking about? That WAS the fastest Skyline. But why spending time on a Skyline, it aint original you know..

Totally agreed. And the performance didn’t impressed me either.

The general consensus seems to be why bother when an RB26DETT can do 1000bhp anyway? And only 1000bhp from a quad turbo V12?

This is a respectable opinion...

But how many people do realize what "only 1000hp" means in the real world ?

Only 1000bhp for a quad turbo V12 which is surely capable of more.

1000bhp is a lot but not for an engine of that size.

Ya isn't there 1000hp Skylines with whatever engine that comes with it (I-6 maybe?). I would think a quad turboed V12 would put out more power then a jet fighter .

But they say fastest street car ever? I highly doubt that since there are Camaro's that run 7's and they are street cars, there are even what 9 sec Civic street cars that could easily be brought down with some money. I think this car is just a poor excuse to boost someone's small ego.

The only reason you would buy a car like that is for the same reason you buy any that austentaious and un-needed....you are small in the pants.. I kid really.

Most guys that are small in the pants have a big wallet.

Hell this car is going to cost one fortune to buy, maintain, and insure. I think for the price I could go out and buy a small island all for myself.

Nice to see someone take a unique avenue, but still what was wrong with the rb powertrain to begin with?

Personally I'd save a bit of cash and just tune the rb up.

The car has been posted at GTP before - If only I could find the damn thread... The reason for using the enourmous displacement V12 instead of the RB26 was that they could achieve the 1000hp with lesser degree of engine tuning .. IIRC, it was built for endurance racing where reliabilty was top priority....

/* Wanders off looking for the original ancient thread..... */

What I would be interested to know... instead of flaming... is WHAT block that V12 is? Is it a one-off made with RB parts? Or is it a development of another block? Because a custom-block molded around the running hardware of an RB would be pretty cool.

A lot of work... and is that V12 any lighter than an RB? If it's merely the same weight, it's not worth the effort... if it's lighter, then.... mmmmkay.

What's the tranny? And will that bolt into a regular Skyline?

It's a BMW V12 motor
