Everything I found said it was a BMW motor, just google it and start looking at some of the stuff that pops up.

Did you google Skyline V12 or Skyline Ultimate?

VQ69 my arse

1000bhp 12psi - meh. My bosses Skyline pulled 1000hp at the wheels on only 20 pounds and it wasn't getting enough fuel.

I'd be more impressed with 2500+ hp.

What is the VQ69, I'm not 1337 so I can't read engine codes.

VQ45 is the new Nissan V8 I believe.

Nissan engine codes consist of two letters followed by two numbers eg RB26, SR20, VQ45. The numbers are the displacement eh 2.6L, 2.0L and 4.5L.

Someone obviously thought they'd be smart and designate a Nissan engine code for this non-nissan engine :dopey:

Ah alright, some of the other things I've been reading said that they graphed two 6 cylinders together. Which does and doesn't seem right. I can't think of two engines that would even make 6.9L.

Exactly, the common thing people are saying is two RB26's, well 2.6 + 2.6 = 5.2, not 6.9.

It's probably a Merc engine that has probably been bored out and/or stroked from 6.0 to 6.9L.

VQ is the Skyline/G35/350Z V6, the M45's V8 (which was developed from the VQ) is VK. It would be -DETTTT, too, since Nissan seems to designate how many turbos something has.
(Toyota doesn't, a 2JZ-GTE is twinturbo, and a 7M-GTE isn't).

Mercedes' 6L V12 can be enlarged that much. Both AMG (in the very limited SL73 AMG) and Pagani use it at 7.3L, and another German tuner has even pushed it out to 7.4. (edit: Carlsson)
So if it is that engine, why stop at 6.9? :D

:odd: That's what I said...

Additionally :D, the VQ comes in 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5L variations. The 3.5L comes to exactly 3598cc, doubling that gives 7196cc, or 7.2L. So unless they've decreased the displacement (which doesn't seem like the kind of thing someone who builds a quad turbo engine would do), it's not two of those.

It is a Mercedes Benz engine, coming from a 600 SEL. It has been stroked to 6.7 liter thanks to a Brabus crankshaft.

7.3 liter was an option but on the advice of the engine department at Brabus, I choosed to go for "only" 6.7 liter.

Thanks for clearing that up.
I was thinking either Merc or Porsche, but figured on the Merc considering porche doesn't venture that high up.

By looking at it I figured it wasn't a BMW, didn't match the visual dimensions of the usual suspects (850, Mclaren)

There you go, internet. Remember, you heard it here first. Right from the horse's mouth on GTPlanet.net.

(hey, you know somebody's going to end up here looking for info eventually. :sly: )

As said a couple of times before, the main reasons for the V12 is it's lighter and provides better weight distribution and it can run that power at a lower boost under far less stress.

Just when you mention 2500hp (i know your kidding), What is the maximum recorded HP in a car? Ive seen a 1300bhp skyline but thats it, anything higher? Anyone know?

Sorry to everyone who dislikes this car but i think its stunning ! i know the performance is not the best but hey i like it!

Can a standard skyline tuned to 1000bhp go 220mph?

I think it's a great car, very inventive and nice looking...

Sure performance could be better, but it'd just be STUPID fast.
Who wants stupid fast?

1000HP and 9.00 1/4 = Supra #'s..

but none the less..
it IS a nice car.

plus itll sound nice! for once a Japanese car that doesnt fart :dopey:

nitromethane-powered engines of NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars produce approximately 8,000 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 100 mph in less than .8-second with a force nearly five times that of gravity and can exceed 280 mph in just 660 feet

also the gasoline-powered engines of NHRA Pro Stock cars produce about 1,200 horsepower

there is no way this engine is lighter as a quad turbo V12 than nissans RB26.

it has twice as many bigger pistons, a second head, and if my memory serves me correctly from beng a mercedes mechanic a long time ago, the M120 engine has a backup alternator, dual water pumps, dual everything.

try again buster.

this is the current fastest street legal car

Wouldn't one assume that every _Double_ would be removed when building something like this ?.....

Just a thought and I'm probably wrong... again...

I've heared that the engine is hugely modified and all the bits they don't need arn't there anymore, and that this engine is lighter than an standard Skyline engine.

I'll give V12s kudos for smoothness, but with I6s putting out 1200 horses easy, and Big Block chevys putting out 1500 even easier, I'm not that impressed. Sure, It's a V12 Skyline, but whoever built it put a Mercedes motor in it. I could drop a V12 into my Chevy and say I've got a V12 Chevy, but the motor wouldn't even be built by the same company. (unless I use a 1960's GMC truck motor) But, Why would someone do that when the car can easily make more horsepower than what its making with the V12?

And, the only place I can think of where one can enjoy those 1000 ponies to their full potential is the salt flats at Bonneville.

What I find hysterical is that Nissan was experimenting with a V12 towards the end of their days in GTP competition with an aim to compete in the 3.5L World Championship of Makes (that was dominated by the Peugeot 905).

Nissan-DR3.jpg

But, according to Nissan the engine made only 630hp and was the biggest liability of their P35 GTP/Group C racer. When the Japanese recession hit, Nissan killed the program.

So oddly enough there is a Nissan V12.
