I think it is worthwhile to list realistic GT5 modifications ('hybrids') along with photomode or real photo's and links to the Tuner or personal build of the real world cars.

This may be helpful for Polyphony to increase the (overly hyped) car count and make some fans of the real cars very happy, or just to document them on GT Planet for those that love all things Gran Turismo and Automotive, or possibly therapeutic for those who have devoted considerable time to creating new or more realistic cars in GT5 who have just had their "babies thrown out with the bath water".

Please, this is not intended as a discussion of the ethics or process of hacking / modding / cheating / breaking of T's & C's / hybrids being removed or Forza vs GT etc etc etc as there are plenty of other threads for that.

Realistic modifications should be highlighted in bold.

Things that have been modelled in GT5 (like wheels, aero or tuning parts) but couldn't be added should be highlighted in italics.

So I'll start:

DSC_2903.jpg

Lotus Elise '96, Sports Air Filter, Sports Exhaust, Sports Exhaust Manifold, Sports Cat, Twin Plate Clutch, Semi-Racing Flywheel, the K20A Engine, Y2M3 6 Speed Transmission, Gear Ratios and LSD from a Honda Integra DC5 Type R '04, tuned to approximately 247 BHP (217 WHP at 7750 - 8700 RPM), adjustable suspension, wheels and larger brake rotors, headlight covers and driving lights from the Lotus Elise '96 RM, Sports Hard tyres (semi slick road tyres that should be wider than those on the Lotus Elise '96 in GT5), weight approximately 720KG.

Please post realistic mods that you have seen...

Or something more recent:

@Stotty so have all the previous GT's but there's still plenty of conversations about them. A few people haven't updated GT5 yet. The point was this may help some people move on and maybe let some others understand what they missed.

Hmm, hybrids aren't gone for me (and many others), I didn't update to 2.12.
Still making *realistic* hybrids.

Anyway, later I will make a RT/10 hybrid using the standard GTS as a base, and a Dodge Stealth replica using the Mitsubishi 300GT as a base (The older 300GT).

No one cares what you think about hybrids. People who do hybrid are interested in seeing what other people have created. Live with it and move on.

Realistic is not hybrid. Deal with it.

I just made a gymkhana mini cooper (Much like the one from Dirt 3) with AWD and the GSXR-4 motor. Revs to 12k and has 500hp. Amazing fun on TGTT.

You're wrong.
I'm still making them, and using them.
My friend is extremely close to finding a way around this update and when he does, hybrids are back online. 👍
This time he won't make the mistake of letting the public know.

Your opinion on hybrid/modded/hacked/what ever you want to call them, means NOTHING.

I think he should make it public. Make PD realize this needs to be implemented. If nothing else happens, PD will think they've won the war. We need to show them they only won a battle, and we're not going away without a fight.

Somebody is going to make it public, we won't be without hybrids for long.

We only want to play the game that should of been, PD only cared when people started being idiots and taking money out of their pockets by getting free DLC content.

Stotty, keep your brown-nosing attitude to yourself mate.

Realistic is not hybrid. Deal with it.

Do you not understand what a hybrid is? Engine/Drivetrain/Transmission swaps are a very REAL thing that goes on in real life.

A 100000hp car is not a hybrid, it's a stupid kid playing with the HP multiplier.

So, before posting, get a firmer grasp of the english language.

Get a firmer grasp of what is possible and what is not.

When Dealing in cars Given the materials, time and right ideas literally any thing is possible in terms of which motor/chassis/what have you in to so and so car.

Google Will.I.Am's Beetle. 900k into a Beetle.

To the anti-hybriding people --- nobody is asking you to post in this thread. Let people be happy. There's another thread to flame on if you want to act all high and mighty because you never used hybrids.

Yes but if we're comparing how you can do such things in real life and the game, you have to take in account how many things can't fit or even work with certain cars. We don't have that fabrication element to alter the car to make it the way it would be in real life, ending with a unrealstic car.

My point exactly, you can't do this in the game and say 'it's a realistic hybrid.'

In terms of the engine used, I don't know if the LS3 can actually fit into a Beetle without any alterations, if so then yes, it's realistic.

And your previous comment is as well. In all actuallity alot of the "Lambo engine in a 500" Hybrids ARE Possible without making a for lack of better terms Frankenstein's Monster looking car. If it is to be claimed as the "REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR" it needs to Simulate the mods that are used in real life to achieve the laptimes and handling desired from the given car.

Where are these Lamborghini engine swapped cars you speak of? There was a Fiat 500, but alas, it was twice its original size.

I didn't say it has been done yet. I know that if given the time and ingenuity someone could find a way to do it. Just like people put V8's in Miatas, and Ls1's in nearly everything.

Are you talking about real life? Because I'm talking about in-game.

^To be realistic it needs to be possible in real life. Oh and V this
'
In terms of the engine used, I don't know if the LS3 can actually fit into a Beetle without any alterations, if so then yes, it's realistic.

I just saw where someone put a 350(not sure if old casting, LS or LT) in a Beetle in another thread but it has been done, granted the engine is located in the nose now note the tail.

Well if the engine is in the nose then the car would need its weight displacement adjusted to the front. But I don't think people do that when they create these cars.

^ but that is just in that example. I don't doubt it could be mounted in the rear considering the rear is much larger than the nose.

So your opinion is based purely on your imagination?? With hex modding, it is possible to alter vehicle weight. Unless you can personally interview each individual who builds their own version of a "realistic hybrid" and confirm that in fact, 0% of all hybrid creators alter weight distribution, your guess that "people don't do that when building these cars" is nothin more than your own conscience attempting to convince your ego that your position in this debate is the correct one.

Who care's? You can still make realistic hybrids even if you're swapping parts from other cars. I'll give you two examples of stuff I've built.

Ford Mustang GT 5.0 - PD got the weight distribution WAY wrong on the premium car. 65 front 35 rear. The real life car has 54-46. So to get the realistic weight and handling of the car I swapped the C7 final prototype chassis underneath and adjusted the ballast to match the Mustang weight and distribution to what it should be, then put the 2000 Ford Falcon V8 Supercar engine (Ford 5.0) and de-tuned it to 414hp and but the Brembo brakes from the ZR-1 on it. Boom, 2013 Ford Mustang GT with the track pack option.

2014 Porsche 991 GT3 - RUF RGT with a Ferrari 458 transmission and engine build stages to get the 9000 rpm redline and then de-tuned to 500hp (Porsche claims 475 but admits it's a conservative number)

So, even though both of those would not be possible in real life with the parts used I've still created two realistic hybrids.
