Hey, I have just purchased this game after playing it at a friend's house. I've been playing the game for about a week now using the defualt setting (square and X), and I'm still having problems establishing any real sense of control throughout the race. Should I use the the right joystick instead or the shoulder buttons?

Hey, I have just purchased this game after playing it at a friend's house. I've been playing the game for about a week now using the defualt setting (square and X), and I'm still having problems establishing any real sense of control throughout the race. Should I use the the right joystick instead or the shoulder buttons?

Here's what I use:

L2 brake / R2 throttle
L1 downshift / R1 upshift
Left stick steering
Right stick reverse/handbrake/ghost (rarely use any)
Look back X
Look left square
Look right circle
Change view triangle
Select brings up RA menu
D-pad navigates and does the adjustments in RA menu

Yes, it is called a steerting wheel.
It will add more realism and fun. Just like real car!

LOL.

Hmm use shoulder buttons for gas and brake, always take it easy. Just takes practice.

I still use X and Square for throttle and brakes and I have no troubles, its all just practice using the pressured buttons. Practice slowly putting the throttle on and off, use the indicators (more easily seen in the bumper camera view) to guage the pressure required for different amounts of throttle, eventually you'll get used to it.

L2 brake / R2 throttle
L1 look back / R1 can't remember
X = shift up
[] = shift down
/\ = reverse
O = hand brake
Select = view change
R3 = look left and right
L3 = Steer (of course)

I got my GT5P one week ago, and I'm used to the default bindings, but found the DualShock3 controller to lack in sensitivity (maybe just the one I have) so changed to the bindings with the L2 and R2 as brake and throttle. But that was just too difficult to getting used to for me so my bindings are like this:

This might seem very very strange setup, but it works perfectly for me 👍
R2: Throttle
Square: Brake (this button is sensitive enough to be able to regulate the breaking)
Cross: Shift up
L2: Shift down

Then I have,
L3 stick: Look right and left
D-Pad: Steering (ye, I'm really bad at steering with the sticks, so I'm staying with the D-pad and yes, that's not very optimal :nervous:)
EDIT: Can you use the SIXAXIS ability to steer? :o

I also wish I had money for a wheel and a nice stable setup for it - maybe sometime in the future. I'm saving up for a HDTV at the moment, to replace my 20" 4:3 TV :boggled:

Would be great to hear some tips from the top racers here at GTP that uses a controller 👍! Can't find a thread about it

Here is my combo when I use the pad.

R2 = Accelerate
L2 = Brake
Left Stick = Steering
Right Stick = Push UP & Down to change gear / Left and Right for side views.
L1 = Enter Tunning Settings
UP / Down / Left / Right = Change tunning settings
R1 = Rear View
Select = Change View

Grim

👍

Heres what I use:

Right Stick = Accelerate / Brake
Left Stick = Steering
R2 = Shift Up
L2 = Shift Down
L1 = Look Behind
Circle = Handbrake
Triangle = Reverse
Left Button = Look Left
Right Button = Look Right
Select = Change View

👍

A tip for g25 owners: Configure viewpoint controls to X,O,triangle, square instead of using dpad. Now you have good dpad free to used to live car setup things like with DF:GT. Just map one of buttons bellow dpad to use live car setup control screen. Also this config does not mess normal menu controls.(using X,O,triangle, square for car setup won't work)

I use the DS3 d-pad for my realtime tuning and leave my G25 buttons alone.
