What is the better display option to run GT5. I am currently running 1080 but noticed its a little grainy.

If I dropped it down, would the picture be sharper? What do you guys run GT5 on?

I run in 720p, and looks very well. Searching should narrow down your conclusions.

I run 1080p and I think it looks phenomenal(at least on my TV). I tried 720 and it didn't look as good plus it cuts off part of the screen. Not much but you definitely will notice it.

720p will stop the massive screen tearing on some of the tracks and it doesn't look that much different.

If u got a full hd 1080 TV then set 1080 ...
If u got hd ready 720 tv then set game to 720 to ...
Anything else should see for yourselve.

whats screen tearing ? :) i dont tink its gonna rip apart :p

I believe screen tearing is where the screen gets a little jagged (or the picture on the screen) across the middle when changing sceenery in a rapid fassion. Happens to me at Cote d'Azur every time I come out of the chicane after the tunnel. It's like the top half and bottom half of the screen doesn't match up for a split second.

720, and flicker reduction gives me the sharpest picture, and gets rid of temporal anti aliasing which causes some shaking. The upscaling in 1080p mode blurs the image.

1: You have high skills in misspelling.
2: You can actually say it's ripping it apart since it starts drawing the next frame before it's completely rendered so it actually updates in the middle of processing the previous frame with an unfinished frame.

Example.

Screen tear is when there's two more frames are drawn on the display at once. It happens when the device is out of whack with the refresh rate, or no sync between two frames. It usually happens during horizontal motion, AKA cornering in GT5.

Maybe your TV doesn't fully support 1080p?

720p actually has less "jaggies" in the distance because it applies some anti-aliasing which 1080p does not from what I've noticed. There actually isn't any real 1080p in this game anyway. It's upscaled when racing. Photomode may be 1080p max while moving around the more detailed car versions while in the photo locations but that's about it.

Did you try it on a native 720p screen?
If not then those added anti-aliasing is just resolution smudges since it will blur the image when it's below native resolution.
I went from a 24' 1080p to a 42' 720p (it cost me $30 so why not) and it shows jaggies all over when I play and when I look closely (don't really need to focus to see the jaggies).

Full HD 3D LED TV 40'' 1080

looks just b-e-a-utiful!!

3D - looks amazing but only for about half an hour (headache)

1080p 55" sony here. I have to say the graphics need a bit of work.
Edges, and outlines (doors) sometimes look funky, shadows ofcourse suck.

In 3d its worse, defects stand out a bit more. you can spot bad edges easily. 3d is in 720p so i guess its not the just the graphics at fault.

Still, They really need to work on the graphics. Or maybe its just something the hardware is limiting. ..oh and Standard cars look like donkey balls in 3d.

storm: Totally true. I think the varied opinions come about because you have people who game on consoles only and people who also game using a pc. The playable game resolutions on a good pc has been at hd resolutions (and above), with antialiasing in most cases, YEARS before the current consoles have been in existence and they still aren't really capable of accomplishing it without trickery. When put in perspective though, consoles offer the best bang for the buck since they're cheaper than a mediocre video card for the pc and there isn't any lengthy tweaking involved.

Toshiba 55LT515U and beautiful picture in 1080p. Still great in 3D.

Take a look at how high your sharpness/edge enhance and contrast settings are. That can make a huge difference turning them down just a touch. Lots of TVs default WAY to high to try and make it look oobercrisp. In the end it just makes a mess of things when dealing with console or PC generated stuff.
