Wouldn't it be funny if they built the X2011 and then had an in-game time trial to find the candidates to drive it? The top 20 drivers would then go through extensive G-simulator testing (maybe they could combine a G-simulator with the X2011 in GT5) etc . They would then choose the strongest and bravest driver to drive the thing.

What do you think?

Ok, so it would be more realistic to recruit F1 drivers and/or fighter pilots for it as mentioned in some posts.

It's just a thought I had the other day...

Nope. They're not pooling from a field of nerdy GT5 players when they can choose pro drivers. Not to mention safety, cost of production, PR....

They do, it's called GT Academy, but this idea is almost impossible with G-Forces, speed, and more stuff.

This idea is somewhat off the wall, yes. Impractical, yes. Possible? Absolutely. It's possible to deal with the G-forces and speed. The cost of the car is astronomical, and you'd have to build more than one if you're testing(and doing it right).

Yes, but an X2010 is a thousand miles ahead of a Nissan race car. This idea is insane, and PD and Sony would be commiting suicide by putting a kid behind the wheel of multimillion dollar car that will kill you if you hit a pebble. This will never happen, but if it did, they would be selecting the best drivers in the world, not people who can drive a virtual car pretty well.

:):):) X1 ? that's funny already - not a real car.

the X2010 / 2011 is like a fighter plane. It needs to be tested and driven by a pro.

Nice thought. Total fantasy though.

For those who say that the human body can't handle the G forces, watch this:

This ^^^^^

I don't think so, I can't see them wanting some scrawny kid crashing into everyone in an attempt to prove they're the best at being a cock.

 👍

Why GT5 players? Why not F1 drivers or fighter jet pilots? I mean the car itself would cost a lot of money. And who would build it? Red Bull? And what's the point of the whole thing?

It would be along the lines of putting a GT5 player in an F1 car. Impractical and dangerous.

The fact that bugatti had to work with NASA and lockheed martin in order to design the veyhron is a lesson that the X1 designers would have to learn. That that thing isnt a car,its a friggin f-16

I am sure the X1 would be the GT5 players assassin  they wont be used to the g forces and it will snap their necks. where as experienced people might just live a lap

Please realise people this is "wouldn't it be cool" kind of idea not "I think it should happen" the original poster is meaning so lighten up a bit :)

Fixed :sly:

I think it would be just as 'fun' of an idea and actually realistic if maybe it was a formula 1000, 2000 or Atlantic car. Only problem is the companies who make the chassis are way too small-time and Nissan isn't into that area of motorsport......and probably the show would have us nerdy virtual drivers puking in the car every episode anyway.

I absolutely think that the X2010/2011 is completely possible to make, but not with the technology of today. The car is ahead of anything we have created and I think the only mad person to drive such a car would be Vettel.

I am pretty sure Michael Schumacher would disagree with that!

Perhaps they could start slow by racing them clockwise around an oval first.

Haha. I guess he would. But he's too old now. He was a great driver in his prime. Now he's just Meh.

the point of the thing is to show how fast and advanced cars can be without restrictions.

I think he's a great driver now too mate. Get him behind the wheel of an F1 Redbull and he'd smite the opposition, I'd put good money on it!

he is one of the best current f1 drivers, if not the very best.
