Omnis, yes I thought about that. But the way the layout is, when I want to get something in the fridge (not the freezer), on a side-by-side, I would have to walk to the left of the fridge and open the right side. Whereas, with a french door, I can open the left door to get things out.

Since the side-by-side left door is the freezer and that is the more convenient and common door to use, in my particular layout.

My rationale makes sense?

Then why not get a regular top/bottom double door with the hinge on the left?

That is what I currently have (came with the place) and it opens too wide into the island. Most of the bottom mount freezer open too wide as well.

Who's the clever fellow that put the island too close for a standard refrigerator door?

Bigger is better

This, Cannot stress it enough.

Bought an LG fridge about 6 months ago now & thought "yeah thats plenty big for me & my mrs"

I havent been able to use the ice cube feature now pretty much since I bought it due to the tiny amount of freezer space, The actual fridge layout itself isnt to bad because everything's adjustable, I still find it hard though to put more than 1 plate of food in it though & it doesnt like large containers either.

The water dispenser delivers a trickle of water asnd it literally takes about a minute & a half to fill a standard sized water bottle, and after you fill 1 bottle the water that comes out after isnt chilled and you have to wait for it to cool down again to enjoy cold water.

Seriously your going to have to live with your new fridge for years to come so i wouldnt spare any expense.

Cale said to buy bigger, he's right. Buy bigger than you think. Also, bigger doesn't mean its going to cost you an arm and leg. Also, if you do buy from the major retailers, i.e. Sears, Best Buy, Cost-Co, etc.... get a warranty. That extra money you spend on the warranty will come useful in case of emergency. Shop around for not just the brand you want to buy, but the store to buy the fridge as well. (BTW, this advice goes for most purchases.)
