Region for online races

Hi everyone,

Maybe too early to say, but does anyone know if regions are locked to the PSN account region for online races?
I have a UK PSN account and live in Japan. When I played GT Sport daily races online I was always put into EU lobbies.
I can make a second PSN account in Japan to play GT7 but I’d rather use my main account if possible. Is this still a thing?
 
Yes, you will need to make a new account to play in a different region. Same as sport.
