Forget H R Puffinstuff - I remember The Banana Splits.

I remember watching the first glide testing on the Space Shuttle, where they took it up on the back of a 747 and dropped it off to see if it would fly.

I remember watching the first Shuttle launch live on TV.

I remember watching the Challenger blow up live on TV, seeing minutes of those two boosters doing their weird blind dance in the sky while everybody scrambled to figure out what happened.

I remember H. R. Puffinstuf and the Banana Splits as well. I loved all the cool serials that played on the Banana Splits.

I remember being off the Cape when Challenger blew up. I remember not believing that it had happened. None of us did. I remember the day I got a medal from the Coast Gaurd for participating in the SAR operation in the aftermath. One little naval vessel with the rails lined with men holding binoculars, Some with their personal binoculars, straining and looking for any floating wreckage. I remember the Captain announcing on the 1MC the the sonar department that I was a part of had located the capsule under the waves...
Not much of that day that I really like to remember too much.

Wow, that trumps my story. I just happened to be on my way out the door to a class, when I flipped on the TV and saw they were gearing up for the countdown. So my roomate and I blew off class to watch the launch, and 15 minutes later we saw the disaster in real time, if not in real location.

Does anybody remember a cartoon ware this kid changes into a sports car if he eats spicy food, and then changes back when he gets cold. I think it was on in the 80's but i think it was somthing i made up in my head when i was a kid so i don't know.

i think it was something you made up in your head 👍

anybody remember what life was like before gran turismo? I barely do :p

Nobody was a Monster Truck fan???

Hmm.. I still have my Bigfoot Video. I r0x0r! :D
Bigfoot number 5, the biggest of them all, had tires from an oldschool landtrain that was used in WWII. The tires are 16 feet tall and take a forklift to replace.

oh you mean this that is seen right off I-4 here in Orlando :D

Not trying to outdo.:(
Just a bad memory that floated up.
The whole story:
We had gone out on a torpedo exercise. We got to chase some target torps on sonar, and shoot some dummy torps at them.
We were on our way home when one of the Radiomen busted into the compartment, and just blurted out that the Space Shuttle had exploded.
Our Operations Officer radioed the Cape offering assistance. And we spent three days on station with guys going from their regular watches to line the rails with binocs looking for wreckage.
We managed to fill the helo hangar with peices. Not a one was much bigger than a good sized dining table.
Morbidly enough, since my division owned the torpedo magazine that was inside of the hanger, we got recruited to stand watch over the peices to make sure no one walked off with any "souveniers".
I think I managed to get about 6 hours sleep those three days...
I think it was the one experience that stood out as sucking more than leaving on a six-and-a-half month cruise, less than 6 months into our marriage.
