Kind of a pointless post but. just trying to see who else is getting annoyed with it? i can never get away from it maxing out..really whats the point of it ?

It's just one of the many poor design choices on the part of Polyphony. There have always been members of the GTFDL (Gran Turismo Fanboy Defense League) quick to defend the cap as though it makes some kind of sense, but in reality it makes absolutely none and serves absolutely no logical purpose.

To stop hackers from achieving 999,999,999 credits? :odd:

That said, 20 mil is very, very low.

50 i could live with.its just annoying makes the money so pointless cars have no value because always being maxed out..used to have to care about managing the money properly now just always stuck at max lol oh well :dopey:

Its like when reaching level 40 some people start over.Getting 20 mil buy a 20 mil car start over ( lower than over ) with 0 creds.Should be like 50 to 100mil limit

Maybe PD decided to trial all the HORRIBLE features in GT5, like the 20m cap, paint system, aero & wheel upgrades etc. so that they don't 🤬 up on GT6

Ive actually seen youtube videos with people with 500million credits or more. These are old videos way before the cap. In a way its good as it makes you spend the money instead of just hoarding and then complaining that you dont have anything to spend the money on.

Er what?

You know for a fact thats what happens. If you build up that much credit doing the same race over and over and over and over and over and over again it gets boring. This way you make money buy the cars you want upgrade em then race em then do a few more races and repeat. Its a good way to keep things fresh and keep players coming back for more.

The 20mill limit hasn't stopped you playing right?

I stopped playing for other reasons actually.
The lack of a credit cap in another title hasn't dissuaded me from playing that though.

Going by your logic maybe they should cap amount of cars owned, paint chips, horn sounds and museum cards. Maybe they have I wouldn't know.

All I'm saying is why limit the player? Why create an open sandbox game( which it should be) for PD to dictate how you play it.

Playing from a pure offline perspective with no seasonals or such. The amount of grind needed to reach the last race is daft.

Basically why limit anything in the game?

Agreed. So many of rules really do not make sense. I didn't buy the game for all the rules they have imposed. What do they care if I have 20,50, 100 million credits? No one is capping the price of the game when we buy it, why cap the money we make when we play it?

There has always been a cap since day one. The videos you speak of are Japanese Yen. No one is complaining about not having anything to spend on. The problem is that there are cars the cost the full $20 million credits, then you have no credits to do anything else in the game. IRL would you save up $20K then buy a car worth exactly $20K? The buying model is not true to life, people usually save more than they spend. Well I do at least

The cars cap is 2000, and item cap is 7000 items combined. (paint+horns+MC etc...)

Sorry to inform you the 20 million cap has been there since day 1, What you have seen on youtube is japanise accounts they replicate the yen so have a higher count.

Actually, it kind of has. Instead of being able to save up all my credits, I have to use them and grind some more. Quite boring, to say the least.

I want to be able to save up until I decide I want to spend the credits and not worry about losing them at some ridiculously low credit cap. Makes collecting the cars in the UCD more of a chore then it already was.

Oh I wasn't sure. Whilst those caps are present I couldn't really see those caps infringing on anyone's enjoyment. Their set quite high.

The 20 million cap is too low though.

Buy a GT40 for 20 mill. Then go to change your oil and bang, oh dear I haven't got any cash to buy oil. No good asking the dealer for a free oil change, they don't even throw in car mats or fluffy dice.

The cap is there beacuse of one utterly insane and dumb trophy; ''Penniless''.

This.

There is no reason for the cap to exist after you have obtained the trophy. Is it so hard to write a piece of code that basically says "If the user has the Penniless trophy, remove the ridiculous cap"?

The car and item caps I can understand as they increase your save file size and you all know what happens when your save files get too big.

It's pointless having more

Care to explain?

Not really, you can get the trophy from buying a Mazda Eunos Roadster J-Limited, and ECU chip when you first start the game. I know it will be more complicated after you have an oddball number of credits but I'm sure between the UCD, OCD, and NCD there would be another combination to spend all your credits. No one really wants to figure that out though because spending $20M is way eaiser.

Only to the collectors... :(

But then again, not everyone will buy/buys the Mazda in the beginning. Instead of having the 20M cr. cap, they could've just forced us to start with a specific car which would've left you penniless, if the trophy is so important to them. Then you'd also eliminate another annoying limitation.

in my case yes. I'm cycling the UCD to finally get all the cars but it's even more pointless when you reach the 20m mark without having something to buy with it. Bought all premiums, including a 20m pink X2010, got all RMs, etc.

Should have bought the 2J when it was on the NCD for half the price.

I think it's basically Kaz's solution to the economic downturn, combining a communist idea of an income cap with a capitalist incentive to spend.
Yes you can make as much as you like but when you reach a certain amount you're obliged to spend it before you're able to earn again.

It's either a stroke of genius which'll potentially save the worlds economy or a pointless restriction serving no real purpose in a videogame (I'm going for the latter). ;)

Like HOODFIELD said, limits are killing the so called "collecting" part of GT5, which PD is so proud of.

You need to create multiple accounts to collect everything.
A 2000 cars limit is not enough since there are over 4000 unique cars (make/model/color).
And the 7000 items, is easily reached with a couple of 1000 paints, 2000 gears, 278 horns and a big pile of museumcards....

Bad calculation of PD... 👎
