Hi,

It came to my attention that posts seems to disappear on this site.
They vanish into a misty trashcan, where nobody looks.

So 2 questions raised to my head...

Why do posts get removed while their not violating AUP?
Why does the person (I assume a moderator), that removes the post, not say anything to the creator of the removed post?

It happened in the past, and still seems to happen right now.

Very confusing that when you make a post, which asks a simple question.
That the next day you cannot find your own post anymore.

Anybody also experienced removed posts?

Cheers

ps. Wonder if I need to take a screenshot of this post, never know when the clean team strikes!

Edit: Thanks for moving it, indeed wrong section! 👍

Posts are only deleted if the break the AUP or they contain quotes of a post that breaks the AUP.

I can assure you that the last one of your posts that was deleted (the staff can still view deleted posts) was a minor AUP violation, in that added nothing to the thread in question and could be considered spam.

The staff can leave deletion reasons, but are not required to do so, mainly only doing so if time permits.

Posts may be removed at any time and for any reason deemed appropriate by any member of staff:

AUP
Violation of these rules may result in termination of your account or your ability to access the GTPlanet website, and your service provider(s) may be notified. GTPlanet expressly reserve our rights under the law to take any other actions we deem necessary, and may remove posts or withdraw membership at any time for any reason.

They only disappear to members who are not staff - to all staff these posts remain in their original position, flagged as deleted (and with the name of the staff member who deleted it), so we can all see every action of every other member of staff. Nothing is hard-deleted - every post ever made on this site remains.

Reasons include, but are not limited to, spam posts, AUP breaches (and they may breach the AUP even if you don't think they do), posts that quote other deleted posts, posts that add nothing to any given topic and posts that serve only to act as flamebait to other users.

There is no particular cause for reasons to be left, as the purpose of deleting posts is to tidy up. However the flagged message will almost always have a reason posted by the member of staff who deleted it and there is often discussion between the staff before it occurs anyway.

If you wish to contest any single action, there is a section of the site FAQ detailing how to do this.

Did it not?

You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

If it had been left it would only have caused further arguments and, as it wasn't adding anything useful to the thread, removing it was the best option.

Why does the person (I assume a moderator), that removes the post, not say anything to the creator of the removed post?
Would you rather I'd have infracted you rather than just removing it?

A notification about removal would be great, I search 30 minutes for my own post

Thanks Scaff & Famine for the responses.

Cheers
