From what I've tried in the current build of the alpha on PC, I wouldn't suggest pre-ordering for now. Physics are not friendly for the average simracer, it's very much tailored towards the esports crowd who know how to keep the car sliding around at the optimal slip angle at TC 0 (while also not burning through their tyres at the same time). Very small car and track roster, same goes for the playerbase so far. Currently no way to open and host custom servers/lobbies unless you have a chat with some of the guys that work on game. Give it a month and see what reviewers say once they've had some proper time to have a crack at everything.
Some positives are that there are daily races that rotate through several combos, mainly fixed GT3/GT4s that last 40-ish minutes in total which are just the right length. Additionally you can race fairly close with drivers that have fair internet without getting spun round immediately (after 200ms of latency it does get sort of sketchy), and the damage model is quite punishing if you don't take care of your car. Plenty of leagues and special events are run by the community managers and get streamed on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. The penalty system is... very brutal when it comes to your ratings (espescially if the incident points are limited) so it really pushes people to be clean.
There's potential here for a fun casual arrive and drive sim but aside from it being the platform for ESL R1/Esports World Cup there's nothing it does that's much different from anything else out there.
