Repairing plasma TV's

Is it possible to repair the screen on a large plasma TV? I ask because my brother came home last night to find a big crack on his 52" one.

Ouch! - sounds expensive.

I'm no expert but i very much doubt repairs would be ecconomically viable to a plasma screen 👎

It seems a cracked screen is unfixable and makes up for about 80% of the units worth. Sounds like your brother will be contacting his house-hold insurance company soon.

On the bright side comments on that forum point to the fact that there are plenty of mugs on ebay who will pay top-dollar for a broken plasma 👍

I don't know if you can repair it, but I am guessing no. My question is, how did the crack get there? Just from use, or did something hit it?

I don't know exactley how the crack got there but I do have ideas which I will be keeping to myself.

The set is toast. Not fixable. If somebody on ebay will buy it, have at it.

It did, but after a while more and more streaks started appearing on the screen and a bright white haze around the crack, you can't see any of the picture now, just blurred streaks all over the screen. He's going to try and get what he can for it and buy a new one.

And no, I don't think he threw a PS2 pad, I don't think would crack it, but eitherway, I don't he threw a pad at it.

My plasma has a hopefully-not-so-serious problem. 3 Weeks after my family got a 54" Samsung HD Plasma (!), and while watching the Sox in HD, all of a sudden this nice big black bar appears about 8 inches in from the left, is about 2 inches wide, and is half as tall as the TV. We had a repairman come and give us his opinion after waiting for 4 weeks for Best Buy to come, and he said a row of pixels broke and is irreparable. A few weeks ago, they call up and say Samsung is getting the part in, but no part has arrived . I can't enjow my sweet plasma screen with a big bar on the side! Any help here?
