Repeat Invitation Glitch

Tonight marks the fifth time I’ve received the Porsche invite. I’ve received five invites since I started the game and each one has been for the same Porsche. The past three times I received the invite, I already owned the car as well as had an active Porsche invite from the previous invite.

Considering how we know that roulettes are not random, it’s entirely baffling/disappointing that I’m receiving this same repeat invite despite already owning the car. It’s already frustrating that the invites exist in the first place; it’s even more frustrating when there are other invite cars I’d like to purchase, but I’m constantly getting the same invite over and over.

This is another testament to why GT7 has a low Metacritic score. Well deserved in my opinion.

Hear, hear. I got 3 Ferrari invitations in a row, bought all the first time, so I didn't need it anymore, missing 3 other though, but they are really elusive, maybe I will not get them at all, so yeah in my opinion, the invitation thing must be one of the worst thing in any GT games.

This isn't true, it's a common misconception. The reward itself is random, just weighted based on a chance table (there's a percentage chance of each reward per ticket level, the levels can be seen here). The reward is just determined earlier in the process than when you click on the ticket to open it but it is random which reward at the level you receive.

I always seem to have an active invitation,i wish i could turn them off or block the wheel from giving me any more, lol.
I had an Aston Martin with a July10 expiration date and what happens, i get another AM invite and now i'm stuck with it until July 27th,i don't like having them because every time i see it ,i want to go buy more cars i don't need, lol.:boggled:

You are doing exactly what PD wants you to do - you are talking about the game. The random element in the lottery means that we all have slightly different experiences while playing the game. You can tell me about your five Porsche invites. I can tell you about the Pagani that's been evading me for over a year. The next person can chip in with their three Ferrari invitations in a row. And so it goes.

We may be grumbling about the experience, but from PD's point of view at least we are talking about it and carrying on playing in the hope of getting that last invite that we need for the full set.

The $64,000 question is whether the experiment has worked. Does the randomness part of the game annoy more than it entertains?

I don't know. What I do know is that when I started playing this game way back in GT1 days I was critical of stuff like the oil changes and car wash. That's a gimmick I said. It will never last, I said.

I despise the invites. I have three accounts. Two of them have 2 Veyrons each. On both of these accounts I've received multiple Bugatti invites, and received 2 more since last week's update, raising the total to 9. On my third account I've never received a Bugatti invite. I can live without a Veyron, but I want to clear that darn Bugatti menu book.

Am close to 4 months ( in about 10 days) and it's the only one i miss.
Considering that was players with 7-8 months and still missing an invitation while they have almost all the cars , i still have enough time in front of me i guess.

I am waiting for that last Porsche invite.

I have 2 tickets where it has shown up, but not been selected on the wheel of misfortune. Thanks to info from here, I just exit the game without losing the ticket.

BUT, it appears to always be choosing the same item when I select that ticket again. Has this choice been predetermined already, with no hope of it ever landing on that Porcshe invite? Does it take a game update to make it reset or will it reset overnight? You can only hang on to the tickets for a month, so you can't keep doing it indefinitely.

The item you'll get with a ticket will not change if re-opened, you can only hope that after an update, the table of prizes will be slightly modified and you could get the same kind of reward but different. Like, if the ticket gives you an invite for Porsche, you can hope to get another brand. But it does not work everytime and you need an update to hope for another result.

So... yes, that's all broadly correct.

In essence the tickets contain a piece of data which is then compared to the prize list and you get that prize. The prize list can - can, rather than definitely does - change but only when the game is updated, so if you hang onto the ticket it may change after an update. As you say, that gives you basically one chance a month.

It's not clear if it's still the case that it happens (I keep forgetting to keep tickets to check!), but the last time I checked only about one ticket in eight changed prizes after an update. Except credit rewards which never change.

And I must add : the prizes displayed on the wheel other than the one you are supposed to get are purely there for show. So if you see an invite but don't get it, you have no more chance to get it when re-opening the ticket after an update.

And some of the prizes shown are regularly too high or too low for the level of the ticket (so you know you won't get those when the animation is displayed).

Since this has come up again I'll add something. Last year the spin landed (I think) on the McLaren P1. A split second before it was awarded, the game went offline. I re-booted the game but the same spin gave me a Honda 2&4. I tried to repeat this by disabling the internet in the games settings, but it did not work.

I'm not advocating yanking out anyones router cable, but it would be interesting to see if that could change the gift.

Just to add, people always turn off PS and reroll tickets to show it gives the same prize. Another thing that shows the prize is predetermined is if your garage is full and you receive a Gift Car ticket, you will get an error on screen when you click on the ticket. It will not do the roulette spin until you make room in your garage for the vehicle. So the error tells you the ticket is a gift car before you do the roulette spin.

Please refresh thy memory of this old man of how many cars are considered to be a full garage. Thank you

Thanks guys. So essentially any ticket that shows an undesirable result is not worth trying for a reroll until after an update, and you might as well do them all at once and then cash in the ones that will expire before the next update.

I also don't suppose there is any point in taking this up with Polyphony?
