As always GT's replays are pure eye candy, but I cannot get rid of the feeling that GT5's replays are less immersive than replays in previous games.

Why don't camera views switch more often (also from interior to exterior view), why aren't there special colour filters or camera angels focusing on overtaking manoeuvres and so on. It's all a little bit too static in my opinion.

Lots of progress could be made I think.

Am I right?

Why is this in photomode forum, let alone the competition section ?

Well since it will be moved anyway might as well Scream my dissapointment for the lack of Synced Replays which were Brilliant for me in the GT PS2 games

I am disappointed with the replay system as well. I really like the replay system in Shift 2.

I agree. The replays should switch between on-board shots, the cinematic view, the view towards the rear wing, etc. more often.

I prefer tv style with static camera positions but utilising pan and zoom. I think gt5 does this better than most. I find f1 2010 replays horrible for the car close ups, and 'stylistic' wheel shots. I also find the same problem with shift 2. To sum up. I absolutely love gt5 replays the way they are.

True, they're terrific and it should stay, but being able to choose a more action style replay as well would definately be a bonus. I remember you could do that in previous GT's.

There's stuff missing from earlier GTs for sure. GT3 had the best replay system overall. In GT3, you could have the standard replay, where it just focuses on one car which you manually choose, but it also had a system which randomly switched from car to car, or would only focus on whoever made it to first place. Camera angles would vary too in and outside the cars. It seemed as if there was always a new camera angle showing up, one I had never noticed before.

I think in GT5 they probably had so many issues with the new Premium cars and the programming they require to get them running alongside Standards, shadowing issues, rain, snow, sunlight/night time effects, and they were (are) just trying to focus on getting all this stuff right.

Personally, I would love to see a more extensive replay system, but I'd rather see shadows get fixed first. That's just me , though.

All I want is rewind and forward button. I hate having to restart the entire replay when I miss the position I want to take a picture!

I think the first bit you mentioned was synchronised replays. What the camera did was (sort of) linked to the music playing... it wasnt very tightly linked, but it never mattered, because the effects always looked amazing. I think the PS3 would be very capable of handling that, maybe even more closely linked to the music being played...

I never had the music on for GT3, so I wouldn't know for sure, but that makes sense.

ON-topic: you know if you think about it, GT5's camera system is actually more extensive than what we'd see for real-life racing. I was watching a sports car (Continental Tire) race yesterday on Speed channel, and it just dawned on me that during such a race, you might have maybe 10 to 15 cameras throughout the entire course. These cameras are all fixed, and you see the same angles lap after lap. Sometimes they miss the action just as it's happening, because the camera person is zoning off or whatever. In that race yesterday, there were several moments when a couple cars were scuffling, or getting loose, but the action was missed becaues the camera dude was focusing on an entirely different car. And I was going ARRRGH!

In GT, there are usually 3 sets of camera angles, which change from lap to lap. In other words, the angle during Turn 1/Lap 1 of Deep Forest is going to be different from Turn 1/Lap 2 or Turn 1/Lap 3 💡

There will be maybe one or 2 cars with inboard cameras, if that, during real-life racing. If the cameras are actually working (and not sputtering on and off) there won't always be a rear view. There's rarely any bumper or roof cams....

,,,just trying to shed some light here. ;)
