There seems to be some real confusion here as to what the reputation system is, how it works, and how it effects you. Let me summarize it for you with these few bullet points:
1.) The reputation system is designed to reward members that post quality threads and/or replies to threads.
2.) If you make a quality post, your peers on GTP have the chance to recognize that quality and award you a +rep for that post.
3.) Given enough +Rep's and you will eventually be awarded a "Quality Post" badge.
It's really not any more or any less than that. In light of how simple this system really is, I think this horse has been beat enough and am closing this discussion as it is causing unneeded confusion among members.
