I was wondering if I should upgrade my hard drive for the upcoming game. I read somewhere that the blue ray disk is almost full. Usually games on PC decompress game files and on hdd it usually takes up more space than the disk itself. So if GT5 is close to 50 gb on disk are we to expect 75 gb + of installed files?

This belongs in the GT5 General Discussion Thread. This does not need a new thread.

And just because you can't post a new thread in the GT5 forum, doesn't mean you should post a GT5 related thread elsewhere. So, please don't do that.

As Astros said, please don't post here. To answer your question, no you will not need 75gig as that would be ridiculous. They don't install the entire game to your hard drive otherwise you wouldn't need a disc and it would make it able to be rented, installed and sent back. Basically giving you a game for 5 dollars.

What they do is install parts of the game to your hard drive so that you don't have to spend large amounts of time waiting for loading screens. I will be expected around 10-15gig of an install but that is just my estimate.

PS3 games have a 5GB install limit. This may have been lifted in recent years, but I've heard nothing suggesting such. I've also bought several games this year and none exceeded that number, so probably not.

Really? I thought that Prologue was more, didnt know they had a limit.

Having it installed on your HD does not automatically mean there's no disc check in place. I still don't think it will be possible to install the whole content of the BR disc on HD though.

I would love to have the option though - shorter loading times and less wear on the BluRay drive.

Harddisks are pretty cheap nowadays anyway - I got a 500 gig this spring, it was like 70 €

The restriction on new users posting threads in the GT5 forum was put there for this very reason. Please don't try to circumvent that by posting in another section.
