This is very happy news. For over two months, they will see sunshine again, and worried family members, now relieved. And thank god for answering their prayers.
 
Well from what I heard the conditions were not terrible, despite sweltering heat and the long work days, they still had nice nicesities of the home. It's good to see this happening, congrats to the Chilean government for helping them survie. 👍
 
Watching it on TV. Amazing stuff.

They went on a liquid diet, so they wont throw up. Special nutrients so they don't pass out on the way up.
 
One thing I don't know about is, did the trapped miners have food and liquids for some of the time down there?

Yes, they sent food, water and a bunch of other stuff through a small tunnel every day. Kind of amazing how they got some stuff down there(They sent stuff down piece by piece).

Glad to hear that this will finally be over, I can't imagine being trapped that far under ground for 2 months.

Oh, that's what that other tube was for. I thought they had just recently built that. I wasn't on the subject much when this happened.

Can't wait until every miner is out there, and free. To go home to family and friends, and they are probably thinking about staying away from any mines at all times.

I'm watched the first miner come up with my youngest son laying next to me. Just try to keep a dry eye during that moment, especially after the little boy starting to cry (mine and the miner's son)!

Amazing and emotional moment!

I just hope the rest goes as smooth.

That's Chile's signature, everything they are proposed to do, they do incredibly well, such an extraordinary country made from fantastic people. Keep them coming up! :D
 
Yes, Chile has grown a lot over the past... what? 15-20 years. It's an amazing growth and progress. This is also a huge bump in the goodwill of the country after the monster earthquake that shredded it to tears some months ago.

Mexico could learn a lot from Chile... but nah. Screw this place.

From what I've heard, they've been passing the time by watching Brad Pitt movies. Glad to see they're finally getting rescued!

I watched in time to see the 2nd one come to the surface. No problem to admit my face started leaking watching the happy reactions. The best kind of reality TV.

..maybe this will create a new idiom i.e. 'he didnt know about that, he's been in a mine for 2 months'.
 
what a moment seeing the second one come out. If the first one was moving, the second one was awesome.
 
The second rescue miner was great. Happy to be out, for sure.

In an odd note, the first miner just reported he checked his cell phone messages. He got messages from all sorts of world leaders, and one interesting one from Brett Farve.

Turned on CNN just in time to see the last of the 33 Chilean miners rescued. This is a feat of amazement. The Chilean government went to such lengths to keep these men healthy and alive. The longest underground captivity is over, finally. President Obama said "it has inspired the world." Well, maybe, but it was a very heartfelt moment. I've oddly respected Chile all my life, and this only makes it better. Whoo!
 
it has been an amazing story. Really, I cant believe that the entire operation was so seamless, hats off to the Chile government and people.

curiously, I've read in some other forums that the press and TV chains have made all this story into a giant media show and there were people all over Chile that were pretty up to it. But I doubt any of them can say anything negative about what lenghts the government went for rescuing these people and how well the entire operation actually went.

I wouldnt care if Piñeras did it because of the huge spotlight, political expossure and the amazing kick-start of his government, the fact that they are alive and outside the center of the earth is enough for this to be an extremely positive moment for the entire world. Which really needs such stuff in these times.
