Now that I'm back into this game, I thought I'd revive this thread to get some thoughts from you RE4 veterans out there. I just passed the part where you enter a room with a treasure chest in the middle, a cage falls down around you, and "blind wolverine slice man" jumps into it from above, as well as some "normals". I beat this by throwing incendiary grenades at him, then taking the shotgun to his back. However, one of my friends was telling me you can just kick down the door and get away without even having to fight him. Is this true?

Depends on what weapon you have, but yes, you don't "have to" fight him. But, it does help. I often killed him first with an RPG blast. It kills others, and even takes a bit of your health away. But, it's quick and easy.

However, if you want to, you can just shoot the lock off the door, and get the hell out of there. Problem is, you have to be damn quick about it and you must make sure he's far away from you when you try it. To be quick, you need the Magnum pistol, something else "heavy."

Once you unlock the Handcannon, doors become like paper! 👍 Anyway my strategy was to distract the Garrador with some grenades (DO NOT USE FLASH GRENADES!!!) and then blew the door down with my shotgun or a spare frag grenade.

The only thing that scared me in RE4 was the Regenerators and Iron Maidens. They always appeared in the creepist spots and their BGM is disturbingly cool, it felt like a old-school RE every time I met them. :)

El Gigante
Ah yes, i forgot about the regenerators. They really creeped me out :scared:
What was so creepy about them was where you usually met them; in confined spaces. It really made you feel trapped, and this increased the creep factor.

actually u can get away without fighting him and get the treasure right on time. I did this in pro mode the other day and yeah its easy man, just skip the cutscene where they go down (i think that gives time, mayb??) and go get the treasure, then shoot the lock with a striker till its open. then just run the hell out. the garrador didnt slash me, but i was in panic when i hear the slashy noise in my back lmao. saves ammo big time

Em guys I've just arrived at the cemetery and to open the churches door I've to solve a puzzle. Some weird symbols etc. Does anyone know how to solve this. Haven't foud a way for it to happen :(

Would be nice if someone would help me.

You mean the outside doors, or the doors inside?

To open the outside doors, you need a coin, if I remember correctly. You need to go behind the church and solve and easy puzzle to get the coin.

Oh, shoot the church bell to get some villagers to come. Do it several times to earn some good stuff. Don't forget to shoot all the blue medallions, because the merchant will give you free pistol soon near here.

Yeah solved that puzzle and thanks for the bell trick. Have just beat El Gigante and searching the way back to church. God I'm running round the area like a woman :D

OK, the insignia in your inventory will open the door.

Be prepared to kill the hell hounds. They can be tough. Shoot them on sight; don't wait for them to attack.

Yeah blew some away. Bought me the rifle with scope now. Guess this will be good for me in the long run. Sold my tmp cos I haven't used it much.

This game is so awesome, I finished it on the Gamecube. Started it not long ago on the PS2. I am up to the start of the Castle now. I love the camera view and the aiming system.
Does anyone find the Merchant funny? Me and my sisters imitate his voice all the time.

Just played this for the first time on the PS2 and its pretty damn cool and very earie 👍 so far I'm in Normal mode and stuck at the waiting for the elevator part as no matter what I offload into that ugly monster that crawls on the ceiling I cant kill him  I only have 3 bullets in my broken butterfly and freeze him and send 3 bullets to his head and then unpack all my arsenal on him ( 100 TMP bullets etc ... ) but he just wont die :scared: and reload time he takes real advantage on me :(

anyone got a tip on how to defeat this irritating basta without using a cheat code and infinite ammo? 👍 Thanks in advance!
Ron.

Nevermind my last post I realised I had to avoid him for 4 minutes :p now i'm in the room where the 2 giants are and 1 goes into the furnace ... pretty cool stuff 👍
