I am a HUGE fan of 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. LMPs and GP cars. I own all 8 of the Classic Racecars found in Gran Turismo 5. If your looking for a description of them all, you've found the right thread.

The Jaguar XJ13 '66: This car is acciurable through the Indy 500 A-Spec endurance.

Class: Classic LMP

Perfomance: Meets in the middle of the Classic Racecars.
It is the 2nd most stable racecar out of the Classic LMP class. The handling is great, & the acceleration and top-end performance gives even the fastest racecars a run for their money.

Look: A devine representation of British Racecars. One of the best looking cars in the game.
 
Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car '67: You can only buy this car for $20,000,000 Cr.

Class: Classic LMP

Perfomance: Don't let the $20,000,000 Cr. make you think it's a rip-off, this car is worth it in every way. It has the best & fastest acceleration and top-end performance of any Classic LMP. It rips through Sarthe as if it were a Group C. It has the best speed, but when it comes to handling, this car is squirlier then a y Yellowbird on ice (GREATLY exaggerated, it is squirly though). You could consider it "Best speed Worst handling" out of the group, but when it comes to even tracks of straights & quick corners, it will dominate. In my opinion the best Classic LMP to date.

Look: Stuns the brain to the point were you can't look away. Ferrari's best work.
 
Ford Mark IV Race Car '67: Only obtainable through purchase of $20,000,000 Cr.

Class: Classic LMP

Perfomance: In one word: Wow. This car may have the 2nd slowest takeoff & acceleration, but once it gets going, it can out-corner modern LMPs. It's like Ford took a muscle car, & decided to make it turn. It is the slowest, grant it, but it has the best handling of EVERY Classic Racecar. An unstoppable force around Nürburgring & all technical curcuits.

Look: A muscle car with major class, still keeping the menacing look of any muscle car.
 
Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Race Car '63: The cheapest Classic Racecar in the game, for a price of around $900,000 if u find it that way.

Class: CanAm / TransAm

Perfomance: I'm a Chevy guy. & I gotta say, this is a great car for newcomers to have if they aren't rich enough for the high-priced beauties. This car is as tough as a truck, & gets around pretty quick too. 725 tuned HP, making it the 3rd highest HP Classic Racecar in the game. it doesn't maneuver as well as the others, but it's stable & keeps time with the P4 on straights. Very good starter Classic Racecar.

Look: Like a modified muscle at a dragstrip in the early 60's, only running with the big dogs across the world. Brilliant work Chevy.
 
Ford GT40 '69: Around $14,000,000 - $15,000,000, obtainable through Indy 500 B-Spec Endurance.

Class: Classic LMP

Perfomance: Ford's last win in their Le Mans onslaughter from '66 - '69. This is the SQUIRLIEST Classic LMP in the game, Just as it was in GT4, only it has gotten alot more stable in GT5. It's got top-end, and fair acceleration, but handling seemed to slip Ford's minds during development. It is farthest from stable, but maneuvers like a Reliant Robin in online mode (Hint: You can't flip in online mode, meaning this is good for those who don't get it). It is a great car through, don't get me wrong.

Look: A slimmer Mark IV, with an amazing livery.
 
Chapparal 2J '70: I think you can only buy it for around $19,000,000 Cr.

Class: Apparently CanAm, from where it raced

Perfomance: This IS the X1's grandpa. It has 2 engines: an 800 HP Big Block, and yes, a snowmobile engine that was used for fan car technology, a banned idea throughout motorsports. It maneuvers like god, & has acceleration & top-end speed like god. It is the fastest & best overall performance-wise Classic Racecar in the game, but don't get your hopes up if you think your racing it without a power limiter, because most people ban it because of it's sheer amazibility, (considering it destroys GT1s & untuned LMPs.).

Look: Let's just say a toaster with wheels.
 
Toyota 7 '70: obtainable through Like The Wind B-Spec Championship, and can be found for about $4,000,000.

Class: Japanese Grand Prix

Perfomance: A failed racecar that has the same power as a Minolta, handling of an XJR-9 online, & the stability of a GT40. With a whooping 900HP, It is basically in the middle between being a GT1 or an LMP. It's speed destroys the 2J's, but when it comes to turning, the 2J sticks out it's tongue and pulls away. It is an amazing creation through.

Look: A wide 70's F1 with fenders.

Perfomance: 3 gears with different feels:
1st: COME ON!! THEY'RE PULLING AWAY!!!
2nd: Ok great, just a little faster..
3rd: OMG SLOW DOWN!!!!

It feels like it has a mind of it's own, like Herbie or something. It is the MOST STABLE Classic Racecar in the game, but turtles could beat it off the line. It maneuvers like a 2J, meaning this car is only good for turning.

Look: A beautiful racecar that glows white in the night time, Chapparal's best looking car.
 
That raps it up. Message me if u want a quick review of the Alfa Romeo Guila Carrozata TZ2 '65. Otherwise I would try to get all of these cars if I were you. they are a great driving experience.

Of course the opinion doesn't come into play, but when I talk about how the car feels, it is mere truth. & I'm typing from my PS3 so there is limited space.
 
BTW I'm just trying to give a general idea for those who want these cars but don't know which they want first.

In all fairness, I believe that in a reviews thread each review deserves its own post, no matter how short they may be.

Thats funny because I too type from my PS3 and never have a space problem and have made some very lengthy posts before with no problem. Just trying to save you some hassling from the mods but since you seem to think your exempt from the rule, be my guest. And also, not every car is going to feel the same to everyone. Different people are going to have different opinions on how a car feels. Your coming off like your some expert and everyone should just automatically take your opinion. Thats what I meant. Anyway, carry on.
 
This is my first post keep in mind, I've had GT5 since last Christmas & I want to get in touch with the real racing community, not just drag racing & NASCAR.

If you were offering tunes for these cars or seeking tunes then I could understand your posting here. But a thread of just strictly reviews should I believe be posted in the Race Reports forum.
 
I'd say take it a bit further and review some of the tunes people have put out for these great classic monsters. It gives you a new appreciation for a car when a tuner grabs, for example, the GT-40 and takes out to loose handling and makes it stable.

That being said, I think your review is pretty spot-on for the stock classic racers.

Thanks for the reviews Squid. If I were looking for one of these cars or had to pick one for some reason, these would be very helpful. Of course I realize these are you personal opinions and experiences with each car, but that's what reviews are right?...lol.
