There are the trailers. Developed by Bugbear Entertainment...and if you've played their previous series (Flatout)...you pretty much know what to expect from this new Ridge Racer.

Away from the drifting, slot car feeling genre into the more Burnout/Flatout style of insanity racing.

Interesting.

I'd rather Ridge racer stayed the same as what it has been all these years. Was always one of my favourites. This doesn't look like too bad a game just it shouldn't be called Ridge racer.

Unfortunately it has the all the feel of standard gaming production of today:

1. Use the name from some reknown past series or game to max out recognition
2. Then do whatever, throw in stuff believed to generally hot and rad
3. Release pics and vids, preferably polished ones and not actual gameplay
4. Hype the hell out of it
5. Start working on the next big thing on release-day

Looks utterly rubbish. Crashing through traffic and walls? What the hell?

I've always had a real soft spot for the ridge racer series, never played the apparently dire ps3 game, but always loved the ps1 and psp games. I'd happily cough up for a decent ps3 version, but not for this nonsense. You could say I have "unbounded" lack of interest in this title.

I know but at least with say Need for Speed they still went back to the original formula with Hot Pursuit.

Rofl. looks like a ripoff of NFS underground. i really enjoyed ridge racer/rage racer back in the day... how unfortunate.

This is not a Ridge Racer game. This is a Flatout game disguised as a Ridge Racer game. It's from BugBear Entertainment who were in the middle of making Flatout 3 with they started working on RRU. It looks like a lot of the elements of Flatout 3 have managed to work their way into Unbounded.

I don't know why but I like the look of this. Hopefully it's more Blur/Burnout Paradise then Motorstorm, as I preferred the style of them.

It comes out next week, will probably see what the reviews are like before buying though.
The track editor looks fun.

Oh yeah that editor is not going to freeze up and fail at all...

Ridge Racer peaked at Type 4, I think this is ridge racer 30 or so.

I'll put this down as a good party game, otherwise rent for a week and move on. I bet all the cars will feel the same.

I think I'm going to pick this up when it's super cheap on Steam, but not before. I have Ridge Racer Type 4, which was indeed the best game in the series, so I don't mind this not being a true RR game. I don't really see the problem if it's a good game in it's own right, to be honest, they're probably doing what they did with Resident Evil: having the numbered series alongside spinoffs with other names, like Code Veronica and that new one wot I forgot the name of.

Also it's a known fact that on the whole Japanese developers aren't doing enough to stay relevant, some even admit to that themselves. Maybe handing the series over to Western devs was a good move, particularly when the last RR was so bad.

I'm waiting on user reveiws, so if you do get it, please let us know.👍

will do, on the fence at the minute though, just don't wanna fork out $55 and see it for 30 something in a few months...

*Just spoke with the guys in GameStop and they don't even have the Limited Edition, just the plain jane version for $60, reckon I'll be waiting...

Ok, but to be honest most games drop down anyway! I'm tempted to wait, just got a couple of bargains of eBay to tide me over.

Wow, I have just played the Demo for this. I do not like it one bit. It feels like a half arsed mash up between Burnout Paradise City and Split Second. All mixed in with heavy steering and unresponsive controls. I'm a fan of Ridge racer but this feels nothing like a ridge racer game. Disappointed with this.

There's a demo for this?

:dopey:

I seen it for sale for $109 the other day and I considered buying it.... Until I seen GT5 Signature Edition for the same price.

What do you guys think of Unbounded?

Total gravedigging finding this thread. It's actually a lot of fun and quite a challenge. As long as you don't go into it with a mind set that it is going to be something like RR4.

OK so I've played this demo and i couldn't last long. And all i can say is this.

Seven minutes, seven minutes is all i can spare to play with you

This game has nothing in common with true Ridge Racer spirit.
