Anyone ever heard of Vertu cellphones?

  • Stainless steel version- $4,900.00
  • 18 Carat White Gold version- $13,000.00
  • 18 Carat Gold version- $$11,350
  • Platinum version- $19,450
The CF carrying case is $550, and the leather lanière is an unbelievable $2,050!
They've got jewelled bearings, sapphire crystal faces, blah blah blah...

So, am I the only one who finds the idea of a $25,000 cellphone...ridiculous?

http://www.vertu.com/vertu/

Holy **** ! That's alotta money! Maybe there's too many people in this world with too much money and don't know that to do with it. So companies create these exclusive phones for people like them... Anyway I don't think I'll ever need a 18 Carat White Gold $13,000 cell phone for basic communication. So I guess its kind of ridiculous. The only thing you get from owning this phones is of course, bragging rights.

I've seen that before. Idiotic. If I ever see anybody with one I'll shove it up their ass. But anyone who has one of those probably has body guards, too.

I heard a woman on the radio today who lives in NYC and her husband makes over a million a year. She claims she is not rich, that she is middle class. When asked how she could explain that when her income is in the top 0.2% there was a long silence. Hearing this woman talk about struggling to make ends meet and being middle class really made me sick.

Yeah, and the body guards probably won't hesitate to shove something up your ass too. J/K

These phones are aimed directly at rap stars, right?
Exactly. That and a G-wagen on 26" chromes. Conspicuous consumption is the way you buy respect, right?

You really have to wonder what they'll come up with next, to please these ridiculous "prima donna's"

So, this thing costs 20k, yet probably gets similar, if not worse reception than my 100$ phone? (and i thought mine was fairly overpriced...)

It makes you realise how self centered the people who buy, and design these things, are.

Yes give them a couple of years, and they will be available for any type of consumer.

Sort of when the first cell phone came in, and when 56k was the "fastest" thing on the neighborhood.

Or a Hummer H2...;)
The H2 sucks! The older models of Hummers were awsome, my uncle had one, and he used that thing on his hunting ground, but he kept on complaining about it being "American" and made by GM, and those were his excuses for why he had to get it repaired so much. Eventually, he sold it and bought an Infinity...

The new hummer is basically a Chevy 3500 with a nicer chassis (if you call that nicer.) I'm really dissapointed in Humvee for lowering what used to be a great product line (not that the 3500 is terrible, as I have one...)

Leather lanière - $2,050

Not being able to get reception wherever you go.........priceless ...

The sad thing is, that's probably true. I'll bet we'll see one of these phones in a rap video sometime soon.. 99.9% of the buyers are probably going to be rappers. The other .1% is the snooty rich people who want to be important. They probably won't ever use it, either.

Man, if yo dropped that thing and it got a huge scratch in it, you'd be screwed.. you'd lose 1,000$ value right there.

As far as the lady claiming to be middle class, she was just an idiot who doesnt realize how good off she really is. She needs to be royally smacked.

(NOTE: the following message is not to be taken seriously. It is simply a sarcastic expression of my observations. Thank you.)

Is it just me, or I'm starting to see more of these things then Accords or Camrys'? :odd:

Lucky for you, she's obviously far sicker than any case of SARS.

Did you know there's now a 5.5L V8 AMG edition of the G-class?

Talk about a waste.

Still, they haven't caught on with rappers. Give them time, I suppose.

Dude! I didn't say i liked H2s...I was just saying that a lot of rap stars use them...[in their music videos].

Ridiculous. Yes. Who would pay for a multi-thousand dollar cell phone that isn't even that good looking; aesthetically speaking. It probably doesn't even get half-decent reception.

That's not true. It's awesome let's **** with el stupido marketing.

I don't have one of those phones and I wouldn't feel guilty if I did. If I can afford it then why not?

I don't get you guys. Why can't people have nice things? I say jealousy.

It's not just phones, it goes for homes, cars, boats... whenever someone buys something expensive or nice people automatically knock on them.

Saying 'Why do they need the expensive phone when a $100 phone does the job' is like saying 'Why buy a Benz when a Civic works just fine.'

If people can afford something nice why should they have to walk around carrying an cheap plastic phone? If you have unlimited funds then why is a expensive phone a big deal? Some people like this stuff and some people can afford it.

So what if you can't, get over it.
