i am currently doing the AI-10 liscense test, i have never had too do anything so frustrating on a game if i ram the AI i get disqualified which is fair enough however i keep getting rammed by the A.I and i am the one that keeps getting disqualified? anybody else came across this biased and ridiculous system?

I know how you felt when I was doing test. Persistence is key and try not to break your controller as well. Just be cautious and aggressive at the same time.

I had trouble with it so left it for a few days then came back and nailed it. You just need to be in the right frame of mind.
I really thought it was never going to happen. Good luck with it.:)

I can agree with this. You have to have patience that's for sure. Same thing with the Special Events. You have to repeat quite a bit. But perseverance will win out.

That probably is the reason why PD never had some people "beta testing" GT5 (as it is quite usual with RPGs) - I just imagine KAZ standing next to me when I get disqualified over and over again only because I get rammed be an "AI" car....

I have never ever heard of something like this in any real race - like "Sebastian Vettel just got an drive trough penalty for being rammed by Luis Hammilton."

I'm just not doing the licence tests, the a.i. is completely unacceptable. I thought devs today knew that making the game cheat isn't okay like it was back in the 90s when it was the only way to add difficulty, but I guess I was wrong.

Key is persistence like someone said above. I somehow golded ALL the license tests, but there were two of the X-10 races that drove me nuts (as well as the 2nd cone slalom). This one was one of them. Keep it up, you will eventually beat it. Study a youtube video of it if you have to so you have an idea how to try to get around folks. The secret: you have to get lucky a little.

I don't care how you want to phrase it....this test SUCKS. If I make a mistake, fine. If the AI makes a mistake I shouldn't have to pay for it.

BTW, I did complete this.

I think you will find all those overtaking license tests are somewhat "scripted", so you need to learn where the AI goes and avoid it accordingly. I had to do that for the Camper Challenge before I surprised myself by Golding it.

All said and done, I seriously hate overtaking tests. To make it, what seems, the be all, and end all of the tests seems ridiculous to me.

If you are not liking the IA license, you will really hate the S license! I am struggling at S-8 and have pretty much abandoned it as it is no fun (I thought video games were supposed to provide that "commodity") any more.

Before anyone says anything, I know overtaking is a crucial part to racing, but in the "real world" (A spec and B spec) you do not get penalized for contact.

In the "good old days" the S License was made up of Time Trials which I much preferred, Learning the track is pretty important when it comes to racing and with familiarity you can learn the best places to overtake rather than having it forced on you.

this is just impossible to do as they just ram into me then its game over
Then why have so many people golded it ? It is a test and that test is to win a race by avoiding the pre-arranged traffic/mobile chicanes, ie you have to overtake awkward drivers, stray away from the racing line and yet not lose much time. It is a good test of driving skills. Maybe if you look at it from the point of view that hitting them and not getting disqualified = lucky, then that will help you to work out a strategy for the test.

You would be better off asking or searching the forum (there is a lot of info already here) about setups and your technique rather than moaning about the AI.

That one was indeed pretty hard, I golded it eventually after some hours of trial & error. The trick is just to deal with the stupid aids which can't be turned off, and to use the other cars in your advantage, without being disqualified. Good luck!

no..that's because his car breaks and he's out of the race.!

I agree it is frustrating, but that is only part of the challenge and pretty clever. Whether it's intended that way I'm not sure but it's about training your mental skills also. If you flip out and let the red mist desend, you've no chance! Calm, clinical & calculated is the way hense why it sometimes feels easy if you leave it and come back..purely because you've chilled out a bit. :scared:

If you find yourself getting wound up..go for a spin with your favourite track/car combo for half an hour then hit it again. Probably save you time in the long run.

PS - i managed all golds with little fuss, I'm only average skill level, using wheel. I set myself 5 runs per test and pretty much silvered them all (apart from golding the first 2) then went back and golded at my own leisure :)

IRL, you will get penalized for Intentional contact, but not accidental contact.
Anyhow, these license tests were a pain. I tried to get them over as quickly as possible.

Also, these overtaking license tests are extremely unrealistic.
If they would actually make the AI good, they could have made them 15 (or more) lap challenges to overtake 15 AI cars.
Seriously, IRL you don't see people making 8 to 11 passes in one lap unless 8 to 11 people wreck in front of them. It just doesn't happen.

This is also why I don't race short sprint races online (2-3 laps. pleh). I run 30 minute sprints and 2+ hour endurances.

You have never taken part in motorsport have you ? IRL club racing it is about lots of overtaking in a race of a few laps, with drivers spread all over the track due to varying abilities and car speeds.

I should have clarified. In spec racing you normally don't see all that overtaking.
I've only been to a race track to watch some spec racing events.

Of course in club racing you'll see tons of overtaking because of varying performance levels.

Off topic: It would be nice to see some more single player spec racing events.

I did qualify Real Life as I was referring to A spec and B spec. I try to avoid contact in races but sometimes it is unavoidable. An Artifial Incompetent in an Audi S3 springs to mind in one race, who will insist on weaving from side to side at the start. I have managed to "collect" him on a number of occasions.

Yeah, the AI are quite annoying. Especially bob.

I don't believe these license tests were built to replicate a real life race, but instead they were to see how well you can deal with passing cars in traffic quickly, and to make it to the end to pass the final car, and hopefully, without bouncing off other cars, all within one lap. :)
