Is there a way to find the PI of the car being used by a Rival? I skipped the drift challenge so can't speak about that but I was doing the McNamara Retro challenges and didn't know what the PI of his car was beforehand.

Since I had just completed the European Retro League before that, I used a 400 something PI BMW but got hammered by the AE86 (rest of the field was BMWs and Mercedes). So I used my 1023 PI Toyota Supra that I used in the Japanese Retro events and still was getting beat by a good 5-10 seconds or so (rest of the field was Supras and Skylines).

So I got a Works mod done on the Supra which took it up to 1717 PI. Amazingly the competition was still stiff (rest of the field was exclusively McLaren F1s) and McNamara was getting beat now (he was finishing 3rd or 5th). I won the 1st 3 events but came 2nd on the Suzuka West.

It turns out the AE86 was 1510 PI (which I found out AFTER winning it).

I feel bad because of over compensating for the competition but I did try progressive PIs. I'll try a 1510 car later on. Too bad my Autolog times will always show a 1717 car. Sorry to the guys I've added as friends in Shift 2.

So... Is there a way to find the PI of a rival beforehand?

I presume it would compromise the way game is designed.

In my opinion, S2U have some slight AI-adjustment non-dependable on ther hp/kg figures. I noticed that for sure during numerous sessions of A International, with different cars on grid before/behind me.

S2U wisely selects cars on grid depening of your hp/kg (PPI) figures, so basically you always run field leaders equal to you car. However, in order to make races intense, AI also adjusts their boost in order to be slower/faster and keep the race intense.

Thus, AI figures are really not important because their cars are always paired with your car and only thing important is keeping your pace on maximum and mistakes on minimum in order to win.

It would be great sim-wise if that AI boost were absent, but having both that variables dynamic (performance and boost adjusting) you get intense races.
 
As u scale the PI of the car you use, up. the other AI cars also upgrade their cars.
I used the Mclaren F1 for it and majority of cars were F1's CCX and Zondas.
Its a bit silly tho how u need to have an a class/works converted car when the initial cup is only d-c class.
 
What I meant by Rivals was Vaughan Gittin Jr., Darren McNamara, the Time Attack Champion(don't remember his name) and not the generic AI that makes up the numbers in these challenges.

I realize that the AI scales the PI of their cars according to me (which is fantastic, the only exception I noticed was in Japanese Retro Races where the AI was obviously overpowered compared to me) but the rivals' cars seem to have a fixed PI (Vaughan Gittin's Mustang, McNamara's AE86). It's these cars whose PI I wanted to know.
 
I encountered the same problem in the retro challenge. Did all of the previous events in the BMW whatsoever (cannot recall the correct name) with a stock PI of 400. Than entered the final series and saw the the rival pull away miles in one second. Started putting some stuff into my BMW and arrived at a PI of around 1500 which seemed right as the series than was really challenging.

But indeed i'd like to know there PI before the race. Otherwise its like trying to build a competitive car which is not overpowered in GT4. I always disliked that trial and error mechanism if you wanted some challenge. Here you have the same when racing against rivals.
 
So maybe those who have completed these rival challenges and have got their cars can tell us the PI of those particular ones. I'll put them up in the OP.

Darren McNamara's AE86 is 1510 PI. Dont know what the Gittin Mustang's rating is.
 
The RTR mustang from the muscle event is ~1400 but I can't recall the exact number. I used a works modified Mustang GT500 which is around 1700 and it was pretty much no contest sadly. In fact Gittin placed last a few times and ended up around 5th or 6th in the final standings.

Speaking of, if you don't win the championship, but you still beat your rival do you still get the car? For example, If I place 3rd overall and Gitten places 5th.

I think it's safe to assume the NFS Z4 from the GT3 event is the same, or extremely close to the other GT3 cars. The BMW is probably very close to the Falken Tire Porsche GT3.
 
They just say that you need to beat the rival. I've just done the Retro challenge so I can't be sure.

BTW, by muscle event do you mean the drift challenge?

Last night I beat Mc Namara and his marshmellow a** Toy-ota with a non-works Delta Integrale I forgot to tune, so it maxed out at 210! Won every track in the series safe for Oschersleben... and probably earned a gazillion XP points just from blocking!

Who da man?! :D
 
Chris Rado is the guy in the Scion.

Gittin has 2 cars in two seperate events you can win.

'69 Mustang RTRX (from the Muscle events)
Monster/Falken Mustang Drift car (from the Drift Events)

I just refuse to believe you. A 210 PI beating a 1510?

Yup, thats what i meant. 210 kph max speed... really annoying at Enna Pergusa! :yuck:

The PI of my lovely Lancia I dunno, tbh. I finally works specced it from the money I won cause I plan to attack some higher league races with it, so I cant tell you anymore.

You can find out yourself, just buy and upgrade one. :sly: It was probably around 30/70 upgraded with best/second best tuning parts, motor mostly second best, race suspension, brakes and tires, no nitro.
