Once you've collected the bounty on a rival is there any incentive in continuing to lap besides earning race feat money? Near as I can see it just makes your next rival harder to beat.

Are people just quitting after the winning lap each time?

You continue to accrue $ & XP for each lap. It's a blast to do the Track Days and take like 10 laps to beat your Rival, then you get a pile of XP and cash on top of the bounty. Another thread on this forum referred to it as printing money and that's not far off.

Thank you. That's how I figured it worked.

Annoying though it is I think I'll probably stick to collecting bounties even if it's only one lap. Picking tougher but still catchable rivals should result in my taking more laps to catch them, and I'll still get the extra cash and XP.

The only problem I've found, with it is if you set too good of a time you skip a lot of potential bounty, especially if you get in to the area where you are getting 100k+ bounty.

To clarify, just barely beating rival over and over can, in some circumstances lead to more bounty than beating the first one by a large margin.

I quit as soon as I beat my rival. In fact I purposely sandbag some of my times just so I can take on the next rival above that one. You make a LOT more money that way. In fact if you do it right you can earn about a million dollars within an hour. :dopey:
Thats why a lot of times if you battle my ghost as a rival, you will see me hit my brakes at the finish line. Or if I am way ahead I will do a victory spin at the finish line.

Ooogh. So yer the one, lol. I see sometimes car sitting.
I thought the huge times were turn 10 doing real slow times to make the first time easy. I don't get it how some times have been over 15 minutes.

^I wouldn't be so sure. A lot of the time, some people just aren't very good at driving, so you can sometimes catch up to them, even if they've had a head start.

There are a lot of people who must be BS'ing about earning all this money on standing start laps (regarding the running laps vs standing start laps).

If you are to earn a lot of money in Rivals your times still need to be good to get into the 50k - 100k+ range so beating someone who's done a standing start will earn you 2500cr??

You literally need to have a decent rolling start time to get any decent money, then keep improving it to make even more. You have to be extremely good to keep earning decent money on the same event.

I dont think anyone said they are making money on the standing start events. I think only the autocross is standing start besides drag racing.

Yeah not in this thread but there are other rivals threads where people talk about making mega bucks but in reality you have to be good enough to do so !

CAMAROBOY out of interest is there a drag racing event in rivals? I havent managed to find it !

I mentioned how easy it is to make money in rivals in the other threads. BUT you have to sand bag the events. If you want to make money then dont ever run your best time right away. Pick a slow rival and if you are beating that rival, hit your brakes at the end. Keep doing this and slowly climb up the leaderboards. The key is to pick people NOT on your friends list. Hit the X button and pick "near me" then pick someone just barely faster than you. Beat that person and keep doing this.

Yes there is a drag event in the Monthly event. Third one from the left. THATS where you can make 1 million dollars in about 45 minutes if you do it right. Because each run is only about 10-12 seconds long. So you just keep picking people barely faster than you. If you are ahead of them hit your brakes at the finish line. :D

Even in other rival modes where you are running laps. If you are ahead of your rival, hit your brakes at the end. Its callled "sandbagging". I have already made well over 20 million in this game and most of that has been from rivals mode.

The drag racing event is by far the easiest way to make money in rivals mode. But you have to sandbag it a lot. If you run your fastest lap right away you will ruin your opportunity to make serious money.

Yeah I understand the concept but your times have to be in the top 20% ? before you get into 100k per rival - so technically you have to be really good if you can just keep improving your time at that level on the leaderboards. I find a lot of times very competitive in my skill range say in the top 20%.

I'm not sure anyone follows the point i'm trying to make.

Thanks for the tips and i'm definately going to try this event !!!

I understand your point perfectly. You dont have to be good to make major money in rivals.

As I said, the drag race event will net you the most money. Even if you are only making $20,000 per person, it will add up very quick since the runs are only 10-12 seconds. Just make sure you pick "near me" then sandbag the heck out of it or you will ruin your chance.

Other short events can make you a lot of money too. Try to find events that are only about 45 seconds to a minute long. Then do the same "near me" method I listed above.

You dont have to be good to make money in rivals. Granted the higher you are the more you make, but still you can rack up serious money even if you are low on the leaderboards.

Yeah I agree with your point..surely to make the big money in rivals you have have the ability to get really high up the leader board. You can sand bag a little, maybe use the rolling start but pretty soon you find your level. If your sand bagging a lot the bounty isn't going to be that high so after a while your just grinding.

I always select the "continue lapping" option on my first rival challenge in a particular event. If you don't have any friends who've completed the event, you're always paired against the biggest sandbagger -- I don't know of any way to "search" the leaderboard for a target time -- and just beating them is meaningless. If you don't do a flying lap, you'll end up paired against an equally worthless rival on the next run.

Personally, sandbagging rivals mode isn't worth my time unless I'm netting at least 20,000-50,000 credits per run. Running a modest second lap with room for improvement lets me get closer to that range on the leaderboard.

That's how I do it too.

Way ahead? Aren't you way behind each of my rivals ghosts except the 1/4 drag? :P

If you re-read my posts you would see that I was talking about "near me" players. In fact I specifically said "near me" players several times. And I havent tried to beat your times yet. I am still sand bagging the "near me" players. My online winnings are well over 10 million almost all rivals mode. :D

I pick and choose what I want to read apparently. :scared: Well, hurry your way up the leader board so I can have some competition.

My opinion: Bragging rights > FM4 credits

Credits are overrated for me at least. We can basically upgrade cars for free and I just spent 2mil buying about 50 cars I wanted to own. A few more million and I have have every car I want in the game except a few odds and ends that are crazy expensive. It's more fun for me to race hard than to "sandbag" as you call it.

I'll agree with you about credits... once I have about 20 more cars I very badly want. I have 30 makes with free parts now though, so other than car purchase prices (and the relatively cheap upgrades that never get a discount), I don't need credits for much longer. Until then though, I definitely have no desire to continue lapping in Rivals mode... :D

There's a rivals monthly board though.
Feel sorry for the guy at the top, he gets nothing.
Can't have enough credits. Never know when a unicorn might pop up lol.

Ok ladies and gentlemen please pay attention to this.

Notice how BryCivicSi is saying my ghost is behind him and hurry up so he can have some competition. Well I decided to investigate this and get read for a LOL.

I checked EVERY Rivals event that is offered and these are how many rivals events BryCivicSi has beat me in.

5/65 Yes out of 65 rival events BryCivicSi is ahead of me in 5 of those. And those are the 5 events I have not even tried in yet. So seriously if you are going to talk crap about beating someone at least beat them in more than 5 events out of 65.

That was a lol. I was joking around above so don't take it so seriously. Man, I didn't even realize there were 65 events. I only messed with the first dozen or so. And the ones I did concentrate, the monthly, are now gone AND I know I was 1st in my friends of each of those. And seeing I can't double check them to see if you participated, I cannot comment on your standing or compare them to my own. But I did check every rivals mode where BOTH you and I competed (something you failed to do in your comparison) and we have about the same amount of wins. Technically you had one more than I. And I could like you say blah blah the ones you are beating me at are the ones I haven't attempted seriously too but it doesn't matter. This isn't a flame war. I didn't intend it to be one. Sorry. Friendly rivalry. It is rivals mode. haha
Or you can take my backing down as a sign of weakness or superiority on your end which is cool with me. Can't win every battle. Now back to the track!

I didnt take it personally. Just thought I would point it out after I was pretty much called out. As long as its all in good fun. Like I said I really havent even tried much against my friends. The only rivals event that I put some effort into were the drift events. If you beat those I will be impressed because I actually put effort into those. :)

Speaking of rivals. I checked out the new monthly rivals events and put in some low times and scores. If you run against my drag event you will see I do a victory spin at the end of the track. I will probably sandbag that monthly drag event for a while. In fact I will probably sandbag all the monthly rival events for a while.

I don't drift nor know how to. I skip those events in every game. :indifferent:

Oh thats a shame. You should at least try it out. Very easy to drift in F4. Especially if you use an AWD vehicle. Just make sure your steering is set to "normal" not "simulation". I drift AWD and RWD.

I even have a couple drift setups in my storefront. Some for AWD and some for RWD. If used properly some of my drift setups will get you to the top of your friends list in the rivals mode.
