Rivals Mode Megathread!

I suck at Autocrossing so i end up using a car that has more understeer, but then get screwed when i get to those chicanes haha.
 
It just happened again! WTF?!?!?
It's a clean lap, the replay is clean, I beat tailhappy with a 3:04 and it says SORRY you didn't beat blah blah. This is ridiculous.
Is it cause I sit at the start and wait fro him to get a lead? The lap doesn't start til I leave so what the hell is going on?
 
I think it just uses the total time rather than lap time which would mean you have to start straight away, I'm not too sure though. I almost gave up at this last night after an hour of trying, the tune I was using for the Viper had way too much understeer so I kept hitting the outside cones, one time I got onto the final straight leading their ghost by about 5 seconds only to hit 2 cones while I'm about to finish. I think I ended it on a 3:04 though which is good enough for me.
 
What is the best way to find the Bounty Hunteee's ghost??...In the past I have went to storefront and searched there name then add them to my favorite but it seems this T10TrailHappy doesn't have anything for me to find...Pictures, videos, tunes...nothing...So other than searching in the Rival mode for the time they put down then look for there name is there a better way
 
The reason he has nothing on his storefront is because his XBL is only a silver account so he can't upload anything. If you're looking for the current bounty hunters, or anyone you need to beat to win something then I'll most likely have them on my favourites once I've heard of them. If you want to get to my favourites then search for my gamertag in either photos or replays and then I think you press 'Y' to look at the players details and can view their favourites, then you find whoever you're looking for and it should come up with the little box where you can add them as a favourite. I can't think of any easier ways to find the bounty hunters, T10 should of made it so it automatically sets the bounty hunter as your rival, or when you get the in game message it should allow you to select set as rival.
 
I apreciate it but how did YOU get him as a favorite???....I agree there should be a option to search a gamertag in the rivals menu
 
You can add me as a friend. I have him as a favorite. I added when there were only a few hundred names on the LB.
You don't need to race his ghost, btw. You just have to beat his time.

Well the point is moot......Cause I cant even get close to his time...Autocross pisses me off because Im programed to go from point A to point B as fast and straight as I can.....slowing down in a straight away and turn is not right...

But I will add you as a friend...need some people to race with
 
The thing is, many cars will beat his time if driven slowly, but efficiently. If that makes sense.
I spent hours on this event. Frustrating part is earning almost no money and almost no experience.
Run a few laps trying to be clean. If you hit a cone, don't quit, just keep going and keep a count of hit cones. I ran 3:40s and higher but I had 8, 9, or 10 cones hit. I knew I could beat him, I just had to slow down in a few places a tad bit.

I also find autocross incredibly hard, I don't know if it's because I use a controller so can't be as precise with my controls or if I just take bad lines.

I think your lines but of course skill comes into it as well. If this event was held even 2 months ago, I would not have beaten T10TailHappy, no way. Spending some time every night getting to know cars, tracks, corners, has helped me out a ton.
When doing autocross, you have to remember to race at maybe 60% of how you normally race, maybe less. I'm using a controller as well.
 
I don't fully understand Rivals...Can I set a time on a track and invite a friend to beat it? Or is it just Rival events that Turn 10 sets up that month?
 
Haven't recieved my Murcielago yet, the Shelby GT500's were sent out yesterday from the bounty hunter though.

Rivals mode covers monthly events which T10 set up, and a few other permanent ones such as Autocross, Drift and some others, in rivals mode there is usually a set criteria that your car must match to make it different to the normal leaderboards, that and you get money for beating people. You can set times in rivals mode and then maybe message your friend and they could try to beat your time, I'm not sure if there is a button that sends the challenge to your friend though or if you can only do it by message. T10 will also sometimes get some 'celebrities' or community bounty hunters (are these staff or just people from the community?) to set times which if you beat you can win a prize. Sorry for this appalling explanation, if I can call it that, I hope I've made something clearer.

Decided to take the livery off, even if it looked really nice because I don't really like liveries on road cars unless they're tuned.

New community bounty hunter - although they aren't offering a unicorn car but a nice looking BMW Z4. Their gamertag is 'HLR Foot' and it's on the Forza Tourenwagen event which I believe is any DTM car up to PI 875 on Hockenheimring (either national circuit or full circuit). His time right now is 1:43.813, which shouldn't be too hard to beat and I think he's leaving it at that.
 
I hope he leaves it. I set my time for that even last week and thankfully, it's about .900s ahead of his. I know I still have 1.5s left in there if I try a bit harder.

Also received all my Unicorns. Was lucky enough to be in one of the lobbies that Jube visited after the game with devs event yesterday. I got the TS S15 from that.
T10 will be having a chat during the ALMS races this weekend, so I'm sure we can get another unicorn or 2 from that.

How can I do this??...Also I see there is a chance to get a Unicorn in "Coming to America"....(probably old news)
 
There we go, OP finally updated to April standards - I was away on holidays most of this week, sorry folks.
 
That's great, I've already set a 1:22 from when the event was first open. I put a fair bit of effort into it but not too much so that I can improve it quickly.
 
ABGraphics improved his time to a 1:23.921 in a pretty fast Mini '09 - if you're using the Clio V6, you shouldn't have too much trouble besting that, folks.

Go get it!

(EDIT) - I've shared a new car in the FPM Club Garage to help any last-minute folks trying to nab this challenge. It should look familiar... :D

Rivals Event: Rising Storm 2 (Drift)
Score (At the moment): 52,482
Prize: Looks like it's going to be the Top Secret S15

They're using the Smart ForTwo and only drifting from the 50% mark. Beating that shouldn't be much trouble right now, at the moment I have a score of just over 70k using the Veloster and I'm a terrible drifter. The top guys have scores of about 170k and have good tunes for the Trueno on their storefronts which I will have to use if SIDEFX does a full track run.
