Where's the fun in this? Do us a favor...leave this technology for unmanned combat vehicles and commuters who hate traffic DRIVING.

Very impressive, B-Spec Bob might be out of a job! I doubt it would ever replace race drivers in motor sport though. At some point in the future automated motorway driving will be doable but everyone loves their cars and driving, even if only to a small degree, so I can't see many people wanting it for anything other than boring straight roads.

Well I see driving for humans to be more of a hobby or pass time for leisurely drives out in nice scenic roads if this happens. Majority would probably leave the driving to the robots in daily commutes so that they can talk on their cell phones and work online while on their way to work. I also doubt real racing drivers will disappear since they are a big part of what people want to see in a motorsports event. I do see robots participating in a competition with human drivers but only if they can perfect the science in them. So in the near future thou we will see purely robotic car races. In fact they've been having them for the past few years now except more of a manuvering competiotion than an actual race.

Didn't mean to strike a nerve, but we all know how passionate GTPlanet members are about driving and I thought it would make for some intresting discussion. Don't you think?

I wouldn't mind if they are able to pass the technology to where I can hookup a camera to a little RC car and be able to drive it from my PS3 with the GT interface. 💡

The RC car idea would be great!!! While I'm super-passionate about my love of driving.....I still think about those moments when I have to drive the wife's '05 Chevy Malibu four hours to the beach for vacation......and I think about reclining that seat and snoozing a bit on the ride!

Reminds me of a line from The Simpsons: "The wars of the future will not be fought on the battlefield or at sea. They will be fought in space, or possibly on top of a very tall mountain. In either case, most of the actual fighting will be done by small robots. And as you go forth today remember always your duty is clear: To build and maintain those robots. Thank you".
